The Dubai Marina is a man-made canal, the largest one in the world, located alongside the Persian Gulf shore and spanning two miles long. It is located at the foot of Palm Jumeirah, one of the amazing man-made Palm Islands. The development is another of the massive ventures found throughout Dubai. Upon completion, it will encase villas and residential towers providing homes for more than 120,000 residents. The location is a high profile one, situated close to the American University in Dubai, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Internet City. The project is inspired by and modeled after Vancouver, Canada’s Concord Pacific Place.
A new waterfront was created by drawing Persian Gulf waters into the Dubai Marina site and though a the majority of surface throughout the development is indeed water, there are public walkways comprising almost five miles. Designed by a Canadian firm and backed by a UAE developer, the Dubai Marina will compete against Marina Del ray for the title of largest man-made marina. The marina will be publicly accessible, unlike many other Dubai developments, and will feature scenic views of world famous Palm Jumeirah. Residents and guests will be able to travel within the city easily from Dubai Marina; it will be connected, by the Red Line the Dubai Metro.
Features of the marina include the Dubai Marina Mall which includes shops, cinemas, and a skating rink. Shops spans boutique fashion, international fashion brands, a supermarket, and options in waterfront dining. Directly connected to the mall is the Dubai Marina Hotel, a luxurious 5-star property. There’s certainly no marina without a yacht club. This is where the Dubai Marina Yacht Club fits in; the ultra-modern, multi-level yacht club offers services for sailing and a magnificent restaurant with an exceptional view. The yacht club also accommodates meetings, events, and banquets. Members enjoy access to additional yacht club spaces including the Cigar Room, Chartroom and Library, terrace and private bar, and an exclusive conference lounge.
