Silver Star Ski Resort

Silver Star Ski Resort is an excellent place to go if you want to enjoy some high-quality skiing or snowboarding. This family-friendly ski resort in western Canada offers no fewer than 115 marked trails, and these trails wind their way through an impressive 3,065 total skiable acres. The longest run is a lengthy five miles long, and the vertical drop amounts to 2,500 feet. As is true of the other ski resorts in the British Columbia interior, the Silver Star Mountain Resort gets plenty of light and powdery snow on an annual basis, so you can generally expect the conditions to be very good upon arrival.

Late November to mid-April is the ski season at the Silver Star Ski Resort. On most days, the ten lifts that serve the downhill trails run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays are the exception, as it is possible to enjoy night skiing from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The night skiing season, it should be noted, runs from early January to late March. A couple of other surface lifts service the tubing area at the Silver Star Ski Resort, and these lifts run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

As you might expect, the Silver Star Mountain Resort offers a terrain park to go with its ample amount of trails. You'll also find an aerial training site here, not to mention a moguls race course and a downhill racing center. The terrain park offers something for all levels of riders, as is true of the resort's various trails, while the aerial training center and the dual moguls race course are better left to advanced riders who are well experienced in the art of jumping and handling tough terrain. When a break from zooming downhill is in order during your visit, you can always try some cross-country skiing. The Silver Star Ski Resort, it should be noted, is world renowned for its cross-country skiing facilities, and it doesn't hurt that you can easily access the beautiful Nordic trails from the picturesque village.

The Silver Star Mountain Resort is one of the best family ski resorts in North America, and this has a lot to do with everything that it has to offer. Silver Star ski rentals, for example, are in good supply if you need equipment on your visit. This includes cross-country skis. In addition to the Silver Star ski rentals, visitors can also interest themselves in snowboard rentals, not to mention helmet rentals. If that's not enough, it's even possible to rent mountain-appropriate clothing during your trip to this excellent resort. In other words, you don't need to bring your own equipment if you want to get out and have some fun at this divine playground.

Skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing aren't the only options for things to do at the Silver Star Mountain Resort. Ice skating on Brewer's Pond can be a joy, and if you've never tried snowshoeing, you might look to book a backcountry tour. Taking a sleigh ride is also one of the top things to do at this BC ski resort, and some of the rides include a savory meal at the Wild Horseman's Cabin. Taking a snowmobiling tour rounds out the options for winter activities. When you're not enjoying such activities, you can pamper yourself at the village's day spa, do some boutique shopping, or treat yourself to a meal at one of the numerous dining establishments. There is something to suit virtually every taste and budget at the Silver Mountain bars and restaurants.

Some tantalizing lodging options are on tap at the Silver Star Ski Resort's mid-mountain village, and special stay and play packages are often available should you be interested. Some of the packages include Silver Star ski rentals and ski lessons, and these are especially popular among beginner-level visitors. The stay-and-play packages aren't only available for the winter months. Summer is also a popular time of year, with mountain biking and hiking figuring among the warm weather activities of choice.

Regardless of when you visit the Silver Star Ski Resort, a side trip to the nearby Big White Mountain Resort is something that you can always consider adding to the itinerary. This sister resort offers many similar facilities and amenities as Silver Star, and inter-mountain shuttle service is available if you need transportation. The Silver Star-Big White shuttles operate on Saturdays and Wednesdays. You can arrange different shuttle departure times for an added fee.
