Rogers Arena

Rogers Arena is the home of the Vancouver Canucks and a well-known indoor sporting and events venue throughout Canada. The arena seats around 19,000 people for hockey and 20,000 people for basketball. When the arena hosted ice hockey events during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, its name was changed to Canada Hockey Place. This is because corporations are not allowed to brand sporting venues during the Olympic Games. There are a wide variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, and hotels around Rogers Arena Vancouver.

Canadians take their hockey very seriously, and it is no different in Vancouver with their hometown Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks joined the National Hockey League in 1970 as an expansion team. Since then they have advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals two times, but have failed to bring home the grand prize. They lost to the New York Islanders in 1982 and the New York Rangers in 1994. Although they have not yet brought the Cup home to Vancouver, the Vancouver Canucks have given their hometown fans plenty to cheer about over the years, bringing home a very respectable seven division titles since their inception.
Whereas Vancouver Canucks games are the most popular and regular events that occur at Rogers Arena, a wide variety of high-profile concerts and musical performances have been put on over the years. A popular Canadian-born singer Bryan Adams opened the arena with a concert for its very first event. Major acts including the Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Simon and Garfunkel, and Sheryl Crowe have all graced the stage at this popular venue in the heart of Downtown Vancouver. When NHL season is over, you can expect to see a regular schedule of awesome concerts and events at Rogers Arena. It is worth noting that this is the venue where a massive riot ensued when Axl Rose of the band Guns ‘n Roses did not show up for a concert on November 7, 2002.
You will find that there are plenty of options at your disposal in terms of viable hotels around Rogers Arena Vancouver. The Sandman Hotel is an easy walk to Rogers Arena. It is surprisingly affordable considering the impressive array of amenities, including swimming pool, fitness center, concierge service, spa, and much more. It is in prime location nearby the arena as well as many of the other Downtown attractions like Stanley Park and the shopping district on Robson Street.
The Hampton Inn and Suites is another good example of hotels around Rogers Arena Vancouver where you will not be asked to sacrifice amenities or pleasing accommodations to get a good rate on a comfortable room within close proximity of the arena. As with the Sandman, you will enjoy the helpful assistance of a 24-hour concierge staff, a swimming pool and spa, dining, and a fitness center. The great thing about many of the Downtown accommodations is that they are nearby public transportation stops, making it very easy to access all points of the city. Rogers Arena is just one awesome attraction in a city that contains many.
