Save on Foods Memorial Centre

The Save on Foods Memorial Centre is an indoor entertainment complex that plays host to some of the main events in Victoria. These events include minor league hockey games, big ticket concerts, and trade shows. On some occasions, the venue's ice rink is open to the public, and if you attend the right hockey match, you can share the ice with some of the players after the game is over.
Regardless of your likes and interests, consulting the Save on Foods Memorial Centre schedule is recommended when spending some time in the British Columbia capital. Found just a ten-minute walk from Chinatown and about fifteen minutes by way of foot from downtown Victoria, this venue is easy to find and hosts all kinds of events. Hockey games and concerts are among the most popular events, and you can bet that the trade shows and conferences attract plenty of people to town. The first event ever held at this state of the art arena in Victoria BC was a Rod Stewart concert, and it kicked off a long list of notable music performances that have included the likes of ZZ Top, Def Leppard, B.B. King, and James Taylor.
The performing arts events that are held at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre aren't limited to concerts. Comedians and magicians are known to drop by with regularity, and Cirque du Soleil has brought its unique talents to the table on at least one occasion. The Broadway hit Cats was even staged at the complex.
As for the hockey matches, the Save on Foods Memorial Centre is home to the Victoria Salmon Kings, who play in the ECHL minor league. The Salmon Kings are actually the only team in the ECHL that hails from Canada. The majority of their games are played against teams from the western United States, such as the Las Vegas Wranglers, and the season kicks off in October. No fewer than 72 games figure on the Victoria Salmon Kings schedule, so this gives hockey fans plenty of opportunities to catch a home or away match.
The Save on Foods Memorial Centre can seat up to 700 people for hockey games and other special events. More than 1,000 of these seats are labeled as Club and King Club seats, and they offer increased comfort. The venue's facilities also include a lounge for Club guests, a fine dining restaurant, retail areas, and meeting space. It is a multifaceted complex to say the least, which in turn makes it a wonderful Victoria attraction for residents and visitors alike.
The location of the Save on Foods Memorial Centre is 1925 Blanshard Street, Victoria BC. A healthy number of good Victoria hotels can be found near the arena. They include the upscale Magnolia Hotel and Spa, the mid-priced Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel, and the Days Inn Victoria on the Harbour.
