Victoria Butterfly Gardens

The Victoria Butterfly Gardens is one of the most popular attractions in BC capital area. At this indoor facility, you can admire scores of colorful butterflies, and a variety of other creatures, and the tropical atmosphere is tantalizing as well. Found at 1461 Benvenuto Avenue in the Brentwood Bay area, the Victoria Butterfly Gardens revolves mostly around butterflies, as you might expect. There are some 75 different species of butterflies on hand, and more than 3,000 are free to roam the environs as they please. Most come from butterfly farms in tropical destinations such as Costa Rica, and some are bred onsite. Various plants provide food for the butterflies, as well as places to lay their eggs.

Visitors can actually witness the entire life cycle of butterflies at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens, not to mention learn about the life cycle of the numerous moths that are also on hand. Naturalists provide insight into the biological aspects of it all should you wish to take advantage during a visit. Also, anybody who seeks Victoria tour ideas might keep the guided tours at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens in mind. These tours are offered on a daily basis at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Special tours for school groups are also available, as long as you book them in advance.

At Victoria Butterfly World, as this top Victoria attraction is also known, butterflies and moths aren't the only things that you can admire or learn about. Exotic birds also populate the tropical greenhouse, and the ponds and streams are home to large koi goldfish. Victoria Butterfly World has more than 200 species of orchids, and there are literally thousands of flourishing plants. No pesticides or herbicides are used to help the plants thrive, and this contributes to the eco-system's overall balance.
