Canada Mountains

Canada mountains are part of the landscapes that make Canada such a natural wonderland. Between Baffin Island and the U.S. border, Canada boasts dozens of mountain peaks, found in every province and territory. The highest mountain peak is Mount Logan in the Yukon, and many other of the peaks of the Canadian Rockies reach high into the blue skies. From the eastern shores of Newfoundland to the southern shores of Victoria, Canada is a vast country home to towering mountain peaks that provide a backdrop to some memorable travels.
Canadian Rockies

The Rocky Mountains, a true marvel of the forces of geology and the forces of time, begin in British Columbia and snake nearly 3,000 miles to their foothills in New Mexico. Many of the mountains are located within state and national parks, preserving this pristine landscapes for generations to come. A host of popular tourist attractions are located among the longest of all Canadian mountain ranges. Many people wrap entire vacations around seeing the Rockies. Alberta’s Banff National Park is one of the most scenic places in the world and one of Canada’s top destinations. Home to Lake Louise, mountain lodges and glaciers, the national park is on the top of many people’s dream vacations for good reason. Several of Canada’s top ski resorts are located on the peaks of the Canadian rockies, which enjoy a long operating season.
Appalachians

While the Appalachian Mountains are known primarily as a U.S. mountain range, they don’t end once they hit the Canadian border. While not the longest of the Canadian mountain ranges, the Appalachians stretch nearly 2,000 miles from Atlantic Canada to Alabama. The northern third of the Appalachian Mountains encompasses several of eastern Canada’s mountain ranges. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Annieopsquotch and Long Range Mountains are part of the Appalachians, as are the Chic-Choc Mountains and the peaks of Notre Dame that cross from Quebec into New Brunswick. The things to do in this region are as varied as the provinces themselves. Whether you’re looking to soak in the culture or the scenery, you’ll have ample chances to experience what makes Canada such an amazing place to explore.
Pelly Mountains

Running along the British Columbia-Yukon Territory, the Pelly Mountains set the stage for wilderness adventures. The Yukon isn’t entirely off the map—it does have everything a person needs to put together a full vacation, all a short flight from Calgary or Vancouver. Several Yukon-based outfitters bring adventurers to the base of the Pelly Mountains for wilderness vacations. On these trips, you’ll find adventures that are not easy to find in the city. One day, you could float down a mountain river and then hike a mountain pass favored by moose and stay at a lodge on the shores of a quiet little late. These Canada mountains also offer an abundance of fishing opportunities in the spring and summer.
Torngat Mountains

Of all the Canadian mountain ranges, the Torngat Mountains may not be the best known. But those who make the effort to see these rugged mountains will be rewarded. A collection of rocky peaks, glacial fjords and vast landscapes, the Torngat Mountains are found well off the beaten path. Just over 50 percent of the mountain range is located in northern Quebec, with the rest mostly on the Labrador peninsula and a small percentage in the territory of Nunavut. This remote natural wonder takes its name from the Inuit word for “the place of the spirits.” The tallest Canada mountains to the east of the Rockies provide a home to Torngat National Park, which in turn, provides a home to caribou, Arctic hares, and polar bears. This park is wide-open for wilderness adventures. Whether you’re planning on camping, mountain climbing, or wildlife watching, you’ll need to register with park staff. All visitors need to sign in, which helps keep everyone safe in this wilderness park.
