Nakiska Ski

Nakiska Ski Resort is among the most popular places for winter sports in Alberta, Canada. Nakiska is surrounded by vast amounts of breathtaking terrain, as it is virtually ensconced in provincial parks and unfettered land. The Nakiska Ski Resort is located about 40 miles southwest of Calgary on the outskirts of the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. One of the amazing things about visiting this ski area is that you will have easy access to five other amazing resorts all within an hour’s drive; they include Canada Olympic Park and Ski Banff. If you are planning a ski vacation for your family or a group of friends, you will not be disappointed with the conditions, atmosphere, or services and amenities that you find at your disposal at this resort in the heart of Alberta.

As you look at many of the ski areas in Canada, you will notice that they tend to reflect the topographical diversity of the terrain from province to province. Nakiska is a perfect example of a resort being built right into a mountain area, taking advantage of all of this particular area’s unique properties. The way this mountain is laid out leaves only 16 percent of the runs for beginners while a full 14 percent designated as double black diamonds. The remaining 70 percent are suitable for intermediates. The top elevation at the Nakiska Ski Area is 7,415 feet with a bottom elevation of over 5,000 feet and a vertical drop of 2,412 feet. The longest run is 0.8 miles long and skiers and snowboarders will enjoy 750 acres of skiable terrain. There are gorgeous, groomed trails for Nordic skiing as well as challenging and exhilarating alpine runs that will please even the most seasoned skiers and boarders.

There are no slope-side accommodations at the Nakiska Ski Resort, but you can find valuable Nakiska ski packages that are good at many participating hotels in the Kananaskis and Canmore areas. Some of the hotels offer deals like giving away a third night for free when you stay two nights, or even letting kids stay free the entire time. Take a look at what is available in terms of vacation packages to this resort if you are planning on staying there for more than just a day or two.

There is a day lodge at Nakiska where you can enjoy a nice bit of food and a drink after hitting the slopes. It features a deck, a lounge, and amenities like big comfortable chairs, flat-screen TVs, and more. The rental shop at the Nakiska Ski Resort can provide people of all ages with the gear and ski equipment they need to make the most out of their experience. The resort is also considered to have one of the best learning areas for adults when it comes to downhill alpine skiing. Parents will also be happy to know that there are childcare services, too. Along with a range of lodging options in Kananaskis and Canmore, you will also find a number of quality restaurants, cafes, and places to go shopping within close proximity of the Nakiska Ski Resort.
