Vancouver to Seattle travel is one of the most popular ways to see these major cities of the Pacific Northwest. Ferry from Vancouver to Seattle

It’s not surprising that travel by boat is a popular way to link the two cities. Both of the cities are serviced by ferries that carry passengers and cars on a relatively quick trip. While there is no direct ferry from Vancouver to Seattle, that doesn’t mean you can’t travel by ship. With quick transfers from one route to the next, you could make your way from one city to the next with relative ease. Most travelers take the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and transfer to one of the ferries to the mainland. Service is readily available, with many departures throughout the day.

Train from Vancouver to Seattle

You can also take the train from Vancouver to Seattle. The Amtrak Cascades route departs several times each day, providing quick and easy transportation between the two locales. It takes about 4.5 hours to make the 157-mile trip. On the train, you’ll have plenty of room to stretch out and can even watch a movie right at your seat. An on-board bistro serves light meals and snacks to enjoy on the scenic journey.

Bus from Vancouver to Seattle

It all started with two buses for Quick Coach Lines. Today, the company operates a large fleet of buses that travel between Vancouver to Seattle. The northernmost terminal for the bus from Vancouver to Seattle is found in downtown Vancouver, close to a wide range of exciting attractions. From there, the bus stops at the Vancouver airport and then crosses the U.S. border before stopping at the Bellingham Airport. The last stop before Seattle is Tulalip, home to great outlet shopping and a large casino. Greyhound also provides service between the two cities, making the trip in about 4.5 hours. The bus departs from several places throughout Vancouver, including close to the Vancouver Cruise Ship terminal, close to downtown hotels, and the airport.

Flights from Vancouver to Seattle

Many of the flights that depart from the Vancouver International Airport arrive at Sea-Tac, the airport in the Seattle-Tacoma area. Several different airlines offer flights from Vancouver to Seattle, from early in the morning to late at night. With so many flights, an average of nearly one an hour, you will have a lot of options of when to leave. And with more choices available, that means you can pick the flight that best suits your schedule and budget. Both airports are modern and designed with many passenger amenities. The Vancouver Airport underwent a massive upgrade in preparation for the Winter Olympics, adding more shops and restaurants, high-speed rail service to downtown, and even an aquarium. Sea-Tac is known for its amazing collection of art, many reflecting the cultures and influence of the Pacific Northwest.

Whichever way you choose to make the trip between Vancouver and Seattle, keep in mind that you’ll be crossing the border. If you’re taking the train from Vancouver to Seattle or any other means, you will have to show proof of citizenship,which is more than a driver’s license. Passports, passport cards, and enhanced driver’s licenses are all acceptable. Youngsters can use a copy of their birth certificate; if they are not traveling with their parents, they will need written documentation from their parents.
