Vancouver BC Hotels

Vancouver lodging can be found in all districts of the city, depending on the atmosphere and attractions you’re looking for. The hotel business has been thriving in the past years, giving visitors an amazing array of choices for any budget.  From trendy new hotels to budget hostels, take your pick of which Vancouver accommodations are most appealing to you.

Perhaps the easiest way to decide on a place to stay in Vancouver, BC is to figure out which part of town you’re most interested in.  Most of the Vancouver BC hotels are in the downtown core or the West End, but there are also some nice options in the Kitsilano neighborhood and the North Shore.

Downtown Vancouver includes the financial district, Coal Harbour, Gastown, as well as the popular Grandville Street.  Hotels in this area range from some of the most luxurious accommodation in the city, to bare-bones hostels.  The financial district gets pretty dull after business hours, but Grandville Street stays lively, especially on weekends.  Vancouver accommodations in downtown offer a central location for getting around to museums, beaches, shopping and great restaurants.

The West End of Vancouver is home to the most densely populated neighborhood in Canada.  ESL students, and under 40’s are stacked in apartment building upon apartment building.  The tree-lined streets, close proximity to great beaches, and central location explain the popularity of the area.  There are some great Vancouver BC hotels in the West End that are right on the beach, as well as some apartment buildings that have been transformed into hotels.  This is a great area to stay if you want Vancouver lodging close to the beach and the popular Robson, Denman and Davie Streets.  Downtown is only a 10-minute walk away.

If you want to spend your time in Vancouver shopping the chic boutiques of South Granville, exploring Granville Island, or seeing the Anthropology Museum at the University of British Columbia, you may consider Vancouver lodging on the West Side.  There are some Bed and Breakfasts in the Kitsilano neighborhood that are available for a homier, less-touristy experience.  Kitsilano also has beautiful beaches and the funky 4th Avenue for hanging out.

There are definitely less options for Vancouver accommodation on this side of the bridge, but the West Side has its own appeal, and is only a short bus ride away from the downtown highlights.

There are some great Vancouver BC hotels across another bridge on the North Shore of Vancouver.  This area is an ideal place to stay if you are less interested in the big city and more interested in hiking, biking, and discovering the great outdoors.  From the North Shore, it’s easy to get to the ferry, climb a mountain or head up to Whistler.

A real stand-out in Vancouver’s city skyline is the green copper-roofed Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.  This historic hotel offers some of the most memorable Vancouver accommodation for those who enjoy a bit of nostalgia and luxury.  The new Opus hotel in trendy Yaletown, is the modern choice for the coolest place to stay in the city.
