Barra Vieja

Barra Vieja is a great option for people looking to enjoy the beaches of Acapulco without all of the tourist congestion. This particular beach is located near the Acapulco International Airport in the Playa Diamante area. The hotels and beach hotels in this area are tranquil and serene, and the beach itself is considered by many to be one of the most picturesque in the entire city. The Tres Palos Lagoon is located across from the beach and is a place where you can view all kinds of tropical birds and animals. You can take fun boat trips through the lagoon, if you can pull yourself away from the relaxing beach. If sunbathing and relaxing aren’t enough, you can enjoy access to a wide variety of beach activities, from horseback riding and parasailing to jet skiing and fishing.
Barra Vieja Beach Acapulco has a distinctively different feel than the beaches located in the northern part of the bay near the old section of town. The north bay is where the Zocalo, Malecon, and many of the top attractions are, and as such, it receives the highest concentration of visitors. When you stay along the Barra Vieja, you will have access to all kinds of great seafood restaurants, bars, and stores, but without having to deal with all of the tourist traffic. Public facilities on the beach include showers and changing rooms, as well as places to rent gear and equipment for activities like snorkeling. Keep an eye on the kids as there are not always lifeguards patrolling the beach.
