Giggling Marlin – it’s a bar & grille, a nightclub, a restaurant, a store, a fishing charter outlet, and a purveyor of vacation rentals. The iconic also features in the history of Cabo San Lucas. It was opened in 1984 and was, at the time, the only bar in the downtown area. From that time, the town has grown to be one of the most famous nightlife and spring break destinations in Mexico. Other well-known nightclubs now in town include Cabo Wabo, the Hard Rock Café, and Squid Roe – among others. You can even get in some shopping here, with tee shirts, mugs, flags, and other logo items.
Location / Address
Matamoros Y Boulevard Marina – the main road that runs along the Marina. The Giggling Marlin is located on the west side of the Marina, a couple blocks north of Cabo Wabo.
The Giggling Marlin is open every day from 9:00 am until 1:00 am.
The Giggling Marlin Restaurant is open from 9:00 am, serving breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros, omelets, and any other egg style. The nightlife doesn’t get going until fairly late at night, so this is even a good dining spot for family breakfasts and lunches with children. The lunch, dinner, and a ala carte menus feature traditional Mexican fare like chili rellenos, burritos, tacos, and tamales. There are also a number of fish specialties and some American favorites like grilled chicken, salads, pizza, steak, and hot fudge sundaes. There is a fishing charter operation here, and the restaurant has a “you hook it, we cook it” policy. You can order eats until the place closes.
Bar / Late Night
Somewhere around 8:00 pm, the nightlife begins to crank up, and it is as raucous as that at La Internacional, Squid Roe, and Cabo Wabo. The wait staff and bartenders are also performers, demonstrating dance moves and challenging patrons to dance contests. Flaming tequila shots are provided often and generously. If so inclined, you can participate in the “Goyo Challenge,” in which you are hung upside down by the ankles and challenged to drink Jello shots.
