Cerritos Beach, is simply put, a surfer’s paradise. No town along Mexico’s Baja California Sur has surf, sand, and waves better suited for surfing and feeling the sun on your shoulders than this area northwest of Cabo San Lucas. Back on shore, you’ll find El Pescadero, a quiet town with miles of uninterrupted beaches and charming resorts, the perfect backdrop for a beach vacation whether you live to surf or it’s just something that you want to try.
El Pescadero and its surf-friendly beach Playa Cerritos are a study in contrasts. The area feels secluded and tucked away, but yet it’s so close to everything. The glittering nightlife and amazing beaches of Cabo San Lucas can be found just 45 minutes to the south. The artist’s community of Todos Santos is just five miles away. Both are easy to explore from a base in Cerritos Beach. You could spend the morning catching a wave followed by a visit to a gallery in Todos Santos just after lunch and a visit to a Cabo Club after dark with time to return to your chic hotel just steps away from Playa Cerritos.
While you have plenty of choices of places to stay up and down the coast, choosing one of the hotels near Cerritos Beach is a perfect choice if you’ve come to Baja to relax and want to reward yourself with the most peaceful surroundings possible. You’ll have quick and easy to access to one of the best Baja beaches as well as distinctive surroundings. There isn’t a long list of places to stay, but each place has a lot to like and style to spare. Hacienda Cerritos has the feel of a classic Baja hacienda house, with the modern amenities of boutique hotel. Its sister property, Cerritos Surf Colony has a mix of condo rentals and vacation rentals, all within in steps of the beach in El Pescadero Mexico.
Surf Board Rental
Guests of both properties have full access to the other resort’s amenities as well as the Cerritos Beach Club, as does any visitor to El Pescadero. This legendary property combines a surf shop, restaurant, and nightspot rolled into one. It’s also a great place to spot celebrities who enjoy a vacation off the beaten path. At the beach club, WiFi is complimentary, as is transportation down to Cabo. Live music is on the schedule every Sunday as well as many evenings at the laid-back gathering place.
Cerritos Beach Surfing
The beach club is also a launching point for a host of adventures on and off the water. Skilled surfers are available to show you the proper (and fun) way to ride the breaks, and equestrian experts lead guided adventures on horseback. The beach club and the other two surf shops in El Pescadero Mexico also serve as a starting point for fishing charters and kayak trips.
Even though you’ll find many things to do along Los Cerritos Beach, it never feels crowded or touristy. Thanks to mild year-round weather, and more than 300 days of sun, there’s rarely a bad time to visit the beach. It’s one of the few places in the area that works as a swimming beach. Even so, lifeguards are not on duty, so you’ll need to pay attention to the conditions. The white-sand beach has several public access points and is shaded by lush gardens. Both look especially delightful at sunset. As you’re strolling the beach, be sure to stop for a coconut water, a perfect refreshment as you’re soaking in the Pacific Sun.
