La Paz Mexico vacations usually take advantage of all the things for which the beautiful Baja Peninsula is famous. Most activities involve the Sea of Cortez in some way, whether its lazing on pristine beaches or participating in that sport pitting man against some of the ocean’s greatest fighters – deep sea fishing. Most all destinations on the Baja Peninsula’s Sea of Cortez coast, from Cabo San Lucas on the southern tip of the peninsula to La Paz further north, offer great deep sea fishing opportunities. But La Paz is famous for its fishing since literary legends like Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck discovered the place in the 1930s and 1940s. A great many vacations here focus on fishing, and there are numerous charter operators in town.
Other active La Paz Mexico vacations that revolve around the sea include whale watching, scuba diving and snorkeling tours. These three activities are often combined, and most whale watching boats will have snorkeling equipment onboard. Even if you have arrived primarily to go scuba diving or fishing, those activities cannot help but include whale watching from about mid-October through April, as that is when the gray whales and other whale species frequent the Sea of Cortez. Most vacations here will also take in some nightlife. While La Paz is not as famous as the party icon Cabo San Lucas, there are still some popular nightclubs and late night bars. Most of these are located on the Malecon around the harbor.
