Mazatlan Women

The monument to the women of Mazatlan, known locally as La Mujer Mazatleca, is located toward the southern end of the Malecon, farther from the cliff diving area and across from Devil’s Cave. The bronze statue, which was unveiled on November 23, 1983, depicts a stunning and graceful woman with her arms outstretched, watching over the Pacific Ocean and the ships that bring loved ones home to the port. The Mujer Mazatleca is a fitting tribute to the Mazatlan women, who are said to be among the most beautiful women in the world, and along with the Fisherman’s Monument and the Continuity of Life Monument, the statue is one of the more famous sights to see during a walking tour of the Malecon.
