From the double rooms to the biggest suites, the Riu’s rooms are well-equipped and comfortable. Rooms have flat-screen TVs and safes big enough to accommodate laptops. Internet access is available in the lobby for free and for a small daily fee in the room. The rooms also feature mini-bars and liquor in the room, which can be restocked throughout the day and patios or terraces perfect for enjoying the views. Upgrading to the suites means more room and more amenities, including whirlpool tubs and sitting areas that overlook the Pacific Ocean.
The all-inclusive package also includes 24-hour access to all meals, cocktails and snacks. The main restaurant—complete with ocean views and air conditioning—hosts three buffets daily. Breakfast features continental favorites as well as American-style hot breakfasts. At lunch, the buffet is stocked with sandwiches and pastas, while dinner brings themed buffets. The Riu Emerald Bay also has three themed restaurants, which are included but reservations are required. Bamboo, pictured above, features an Asian-style buffet, and Tabasco, the Mexican restaurant, has a buffet for appetizers and desserts, while its entrees are ordered off a menu. The resort’s grill, Las Gaviotas, also has menu service featuring steaks, ribs and chicken. Several bars are included in the mix, including the poolside bar.
Riu Mazatlan Pool
The resort, and Mazatlan as a whole, enjoys pleasant weather year-round and abundant sunshine. The pool complex is an inviting place to enjoy the sun. With three free-form pools and a kids’ pool, there’s plenty of room for everyone to go for a swim. There are plenty of deck chairs where you can lounge in the sun and enjoy views of the palm trees and the ocean just beyond. Or perhaps you want to relax in the hot tub or grab a cocktail to really the relax. Throughout the day, resort staff hosts games and activities for adults and kids. Live music fills the air after dark, just as the nightclub opens for business.
Riu Mazatlan Beach
Just steps away from the pool complex is the beach, where you’ll find Playa Las Brujas, one of the most enchanting beaches in northern Mexico. The waves are big and perfect for surfing or water sports. Many of the activities are included in the all-inclusive package like kayaking, catamaran, and kayaking. You’ll also find beach volleyball courts and plenty of open soft sand where you can go for a stroll or spread out a blanket for a nap in the sun, which somehow seems even more beautiful in Mazatlan.
