Mexico City Museum of Modern Art

The Mexico City Museum of Modern Art is located in the lively Polanco district. This museum is one of the most popular in the city, along with the Frida Kahlo Museum, Dolores Olmedo Museum, and the National Museum of Anthropology. The Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City first opened in 1964 and features Mexican art from before and after the Colonial period. Most tourists visit this museum to see the paintings and sculpture of Mexican artists from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, but temporary exhibitions also feature Mexican and international artists, extending the range of art beyond the permanent collection. If you’re looking for museums in Chapultepec Park that are worth a visit, look no further than the Modern Art Museum.

The museum is closed only on Mondays. From Tuesday through Sunday, the Mexico City Museum of Modern Art is open to the public from 10 am to 5:30 pm. The tickets are relatively inexpensive and the museum is closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. For a range of work by Mexican artists, this museum can’t be beat. From the murals of Diego Rivera to large-scale sculpture in the surrounding gardens, visitors will be impressed by the range and quality of the work at this museum. Known as the best of the museums in Chapultepec Park, the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City is housed in a two-story building with a central staircase. After visiting the museum, you can also explore the swanky Polanco district, which is home to upscale boutiques, gourmet eateries, and five-star hotels.
