The Playa del Carmen beach hotels are enticing for a variety of reasons. They are found on or near some of the best beaches in Mexico, and it doesn't hurt that the Playa region is home to a plethora of great non-beach attractions as well. All inclusive rates are available at some of the Playa beach hotels if you wish to enjoy a truly hassle-free escape, and whether you go the all inclusive route or not, there are choices to fit a range of budgets.
When searching for Playa del Carmen beach hotels, there are a few things to consider. Location is one of them. In the downtown area, numerous hotels offer easy access to great beaches and beach clubs, among other things. One of the best is the Hotel Las Palapas, which calls dynamic Mamitas Beach home. Some of the most enticing Playa del Carmen cabanas are available at Hotel Las Palapas, and you can hardly argue with the location on Mamitas Beach. Right next to the hotel is the renowned Mamitas Beach Club, which is known for hosting the popular Riviera Maya Jazz Festival.
While a lot of downtown Playa del Carmen hotels offer proximity to a beach, few are found right on the sand. Should your search find you sticking to the Playa del Carmen beachfront hotels, then another gem in the downtown area is the Royal Hotel Playa. You can find this 507-unit resort at Constituyentes No. 2, which puts it right on the beach in the downtown area. As is true of some of the other Playa del Carmen beach hotels, the luxurious Royal Hotel Playa is adults only, making it an especially inviting retreat for romantic escapes. Guests can enjoy an all inclusive lodging experience at the Royal Hotel, and spending extra on spa treatments might be too tempting to pass on.
Downtown Playa del Carmen has a lively atmosphere, but some may prefer the quieter nature of northern Playa. To the near north of the downtown area, the beaches are calmer on average, though you will still be close to the downtown core and all its offerings. It is in this area that you will find the Mahekal Beach Resort. Much like the Hotel Palapas, this resort boasts some of the most enticing cabana rentals in the area. It also enjoys a fantastic beachfront location, the likes of which sees it sitting right on beautiful Shangri La Beach.
Also worth considering when looking for Playa del Carmen beachfront hotels that are found to the north is the La Reve Hotel. Easily one of the best Playa del Carmen beachfront hotels, the La Reve offers boutique style in its suites, not to mention some divine amenities. Separate bungalow suites are available if you wish to enjoy a more private lodging experience, though you can hardly go wrong regardless of which guest unit you secure. Each and every suite features cozy robes, luxury bedding, a deluxe shower, air conditioning, a mini bar, and a host of other things.
If the La Reve Hotel is fully booked and you want to stay on the quieter northern side of Playa, worry not. Close by is the Azul Fives Hotel, and it too offers well-equipped suites and a spectacular beachfront location. Perhaps you won't have your heart set on staying on the northern side, however, in which case venturing down to the southern reaches of Playa is recommended.
To the near south of downtown Playa you will find the upscale community of Playacar. In addition to residential properties and some excellent vacation rentals, Playacar offers all inclusive resorts. These all inclusive hangouts sit on gorgeous white-sand beaches, and guests have access to numerous facilities. Food, drinks, and just about everything else that you can imagine are included in the rates at the Playa del Carmen all inclusive resorts, and since the majority welcome people of all ages, they can be great family retreats. The relatively upscale Sandos Playacar and the more affordable Riu Playa del Carmen are just two of the Playacar all inclusive resorts that deserve mention among the Playa del Carmen beachfront hotels.
While some of the Playa del Carmen beach hotels are relatively expensive, others do well to provide budget-minded travelers with some tempting lodging options. The Playa Maya Hotel, which is one of the best cheap hotels in Playa del Carmen, caters to those who don't want to overspend, while luxury standouts like the Royal Hideaway Playacar are where discerning tastes can be satisfied. Regardless of the hotel class that you prefer, booking your stay as soon as possible is recommended once you find the proper hotel. Rooms can go fast in Playa del Carmen, especially during the peak periods. These periods are mid-December to Easter, and the month of August.
