Riviera Maya Jazz Festival

The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is one of the top annual events in Playa del Carmen. Held at the lively Mamitas Beach Club, this festival features big-name performers from the jazz industry, and these performers come from a variety of different countries. Those attending the event also hail from a number of different countries, and since there is no admission fee, they all get in for free.

The Playa del Carmen Jazz Festival takes place in November, and it typically lasts for three or four days. On each day, you can expect to catch a host of talented performers. In past years, such acts as George Benson, Kool and the Gang, Sergio Mendes, Al Jarreau, Sacbe, and Ivan Lins have figured among the performers, which should give you an idea of just how much quality is tied to this event.

The Mamitas Beach Club can be found on Mamitas Beach in the downtown area, and it offers plenty for the visitor to enjoy on any given day. There is a restaurant that is known for its high-quality international menu, and the bar and lounge can take care of all of your drink needs. On the days when the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival takes center stage, the doors open at 6 p.m., and the first notes from the talented musicians start filling the ocean air at around 7 p.m. It should be mentioned that next to Mamitas Beach is Playa Tukan, and it too is home to a wonderful beach club that you might check out before the jazz festival begins.

You can find Mamitas Beach and the Mamitas Beach Club where 28th Street ends and the sand begins. There are plenty of good Playa del Carmen hotels close by, and even if you are staying at one of the vacation rentals or all inclusive resorts in Playacar, it won't take long to get to Mamitas Beach. Among the hotels that are closest to the action are the Hotel Las Palapas, the Royal Hotel, the Riviera del Sol, and the Hotel Quinta Palmera.

When you're not listening to the sweet sounds of Jazz during your Playa del Carmen visit, there will be plenty of other wonderful things to do. Some delightful golf courses call the area home, for example, and indulging in some Playa del Carmen fishing can be a great way to spend the better part of a day. This is a vacation destination that caters to all kinds of people with its glorious beaches and its fine mix of activity options. As for the Playa del Carmen Jazz Festival, it only gets bigger and better every year and is certainly worth planning your Maya Riviera vacation around.
