Alabama Golf Courses

If you want to take a golf vacation to Alabama you will find a very welcoming state. With its balmy weather, golfing in Alabama is a year round sport. There are plenty of Alabama golf courses to choose from, but the state is widely known for its famous Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, named for the legendary golf course architect who designed most of the courses along the statewide trail before his death in 2000. This is one of the world's most ambitious golf course projects, consisting of eleven world-class championship courses with nearly 400 holes. Others are country clubs, but visitors are generally welcome to play, with some fees being slightly higher for non-members. The top locations for a golf vacation to Alabama are Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, and Huntsville. But you will find plenty of good golfing in Alabama wherever you visit.

Alabama golf packages are offered by many of the deluxe hotels and resorts in the state. These generally include accommodations and greens fees, and are called "stay and play" packages. Sometimes, they might include extras such as car rental, some meals, and perhaps admission to nearby attractions and tickets to seasonal events. These provide the best golfing in Alabama and the RTJ courses are some of the best in the world. Every golfing great from Lee Trevino to Tiger Woods has teed off on at least one of them. You'd expect this of a man who has Scottish ancestry and designed the famous courses at Pebble Beach in California and who designed some of the best course in the world. You can, in fact, book golf vacation packages that circle the globe, visiting only RTJ courses.
