Hangout Music Festival Facts and History
The 2011 Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores Shores will unfold over a long weekend at the end of May. One of the sweetest events around the state will be ringing three days of great music and a long list of artists-rockers, alternative rockers, and hip musicians will join the biggest names in country and the other artists.
Debuting in 2010, the Hangout Music Festival quickly established itself as one of the top music festivals in Alabama, joining the more established BayFest in Mobile. It started as a way to bring people and dollars into the region hard hit by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It may not have a long history, but it has always been something special.
The first year, the festival found success as it featured some of the biggest names in rock and country, drawing Jimmy Buffet and plenty of happy Parrot Heads. Bon Jovi, Alan Jackson, and Gretchen Wilson also played concerts on the beach, as did Brad Paisley and Hank Williams Jr. And that's just the beginning of the list. The Roots, Trey Anastasio, and Ben Harper wowed the crowds, too. The Hangout Music Festival 2011 in Gulf Shores Alabama will bring even more music, more events, and more amenities to the beaches of the Gulf Coast.
