While the California beach resorts aren’t overflowing in number, that doesn’t
mean that there aren’t a sufficient amount of choices. When traveling along
the coast in California, there will be a fair amount of cities and towns where
you can book a resort stay and enjoy a wonderful vacation, though you will want
to know where to look if it’s true resorts that you want. While some of the
beach resorts in California
claim to be resorts, they are really just beachfront hotels, so you might be
disappointed once you arrive and find a lack of facilities. That being said,
even the more basic resort hotels in the state will tend to offer a great location
near the water, which is often the only thing that matters to some visitors.
Whether you are looking to stay in northern
California or you prefer to visit the central or southern parts of the state,
there are beachfront resorts available, so plan your getaway today and treat
yourself to some fun in the warm California sun.
When it comes to Northern California, your choices for beach resorts will be more limited than in the central and southern parts of the state. While the Stinson Beach hotels offer some nice beachfront properties, none of them are necessarily resorts, so when looking to enjoy the resort experience near San Francisco, you will probably prefer Half Moon Bay. The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay is a golf and spa resort that can more than meet the needs of even the most discerning of travelers, and if you can’t quite swing the rates there, then you might prefer a stay at the simpler Oceano Hotel and Spa, which still manages to deliver a relatively luxurious lodging experience. Both resorts have their advantages, but if it’s California golf that’s on your mind, you’ll do better at the Ritz Carlton, as it boasts 2 championship golf courses.
While staying in the San Francisco area is great for some, those seeking to enjoy California’s slightly quieter central coast will find some resorts there as well. Again, in this part of the state the resorts are few in number, so it helps to know where to look. Pismo Beach, which is also where you will find Shell Beach, is arguably the best central coast destination for visitors who want to stay at one of the California beach resorts. The Cliffs Resort is easily one of the best resort hotels in Central California, and it offers what it calls “affordable luxury”. Well-appointed rooms, a spa, a restaurant, and an oceanfront pool are just some of the things that you will find at The Cliffs Resort. You can also consider booking a stay at the very luxurious Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa (pictured), where spacious guest suites that are full of amenities await you. You will pay more to stay at the Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa, so if you prefer saving on rates, The Cliffs will be a better fit.
California Ocean Resorts
As you head towards Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway, you can always make a stop in Santa Barbara if you are looking to enjoy a stay at a dazzling beachfront resort in California. It is in Santa Barbara where you will find the ultra-luxurious Four Seasons Santa Barbara Resort (pictured). When it comes to service and comfort, you can hardly top the Four Seasons Biltmore. In addition to immaculate rooms and suites, the resort also boasts a handful of delightful restaurants, a couple of sleek lounges, a deluxe spa, a dynamic fitness center, 3 tennis courts, and 2 sparkling pools. You’re right on the beach when you stay at the Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara, so you can sunbathe, swim, surf, boogie board, or take in sunsets at your leisure. For those who prefer staying in the picturesque Montecito foothills, the San Ysidro Resort is another excellent luxury hotel in Santa Barbara that boasts plenty in the way of amenities. It is further inland, however, so while it doesn’t classify as a beachfront resort in California, it’s still worth a look.
California Family Beach Resorts
In Southern California,
visitors will find a nice array of resorts in Los Angeles County, Orange County,
and San Diego County. In
the Los Angeles area, the Hyatt Regency Beach Resort and Spa and the Hilton
Waterfront Beach Resort are among the top resort properties. Both are found
in Huntington Beach,
which is arguably the best place to find resorts in Los Angeles County. Heading
south to Orange County, Monarch
Beach is where you will find two contenders for the prize of top beachfront
resort in California. Perched on bluffs that overlook the beach, both the St.
Regis Resort and the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel are luxurious havens where you
will enjoy the best in comfort and service. Found in Dana Point, Monarch Beach
doesn’t boast many hotels, but between these two California beach resorts, you
could hardly ask for more. As for San Diego County, the historic Hotel del Coronado
is among the most recognizable beach resorts in California. Open since 1888,
it’s been a favorite with travelers for decades. La Jolla is another good place
to look for California beach resorts. The Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines certainly
deserves mention. Not only do you overlook the stunning and famous Torrey Pines
Golf Course when you stay at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, but you’re also
just 7 miles from Sea World
San Diego, which is good news for families!
