The Pavilion Hotel, formerly known as the Pavilion Lodge, understandably gets plenty of praise. One of the best hotels on Catalina Island, it offers a fantastic location, but that’s just where the allure begins. Comfort abounds at the Pavilion Hotel, thanks in part to the well-equipped rooms, and the huge garden courtyard area is a fantastic place to kick back and socialize. Among the courtyard features is a large fire pit that is surrounded by cozy chairs. A fine venue for ushering in the evening hours.
The two-story Pavilion Hotel offers a total of 71 rooms. These rooms come in three different categories. The Standard Rooms and Superior Rooms have either a king-size bed or two full-size beds. For those who want some extra room, the spacious Suites are the way to go. Regardless of which room guests secure at the Pavilion Hotel, they can expect to enjoy a welcoming array of amenities. Standard amenity highlights include a flat screen TV, a CD player, an iHome MP3 player, an iPad, a balcony or patio, air conditioning, a coffee/tea maker, a hair dryer, and an in-room safe. Included in the rates for all of the Pavilion Hotel rooms are deluxe continental breakfasts and afternoon wine and cheese sessions.
When booking a stay at the Pavilion Hotel Catalina, prospective guests are encouraged to keep the hotel’s travel packages in mind. In addition to accommodations, these packages can include such things as round trip boat tickets on the Catalina Express, undersea expedition tours, tours of the Catalina Casino, reduced zip-line eco tour tickets, or four-course meals that allow diners to pair their food with a limited batch of Santa Catalina Island Wine. The specific perks ultimately depend on the package in question, so weighing all of the available options is a good idea.
The Pavilion Hotel can be found in Catalina Island’s only city – Avalon. As such, a number of restaurants are within easy reach of the hotel. One such restaurant is Steve’s Steakhouse, which is known for its USDA choice meats, its fresh seafood, and its splendid views of Avalon Bay. Other Avalon restaurants also offer savory cuts of meat and fresh seafood, and there are also places to get delicious burgers, regional Italian specialties, pizza, Mexican food, and virtually anything else that you can think of. Not to be overlooked is the Descanso Beach Club. Guests of the Pavilion Hotel can enjoy access to this outdoor restaurant and bar, which offers Avalon’s only cocktail and food service on the beach.

The Pavilion Hotel can be found at 513 Crescent Avenue, which puts it within what the hotel itself likes to call “about 14 steps away from the beach.” Close by is the Green Pleasure Pier, and as noted in the previous paragraph, the hotel is also within easy reach of numerous eateries. Bars and shops are just some of the other things that are within walking distance of the Pavilion Hotel, and it isn’t very far to the cement pier that serves as the main loading and unloading dock for the tourist boats. The walk from the boat pier only takes a few minutes. If you are taking a helicopter to Catalina Island instead, a short taxi ride is all that is required to get into town and to the hotel. The Green Pleasure Pier, it should be noted, is home to the Catalina Island Visitor Center.
