One of the most popular places to visit when you’re in Southern California is the Hollywood Stars on Hollywood Boulevard. Also known as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this historic mile-long strip of sidewalk is studded with pink stars emblazoned with brass letter with the names of famous entertainers in television, motion pictures, music, radio, and theatre. There are over 2,000 stars at this top California attraction, with famous names such as James Dean, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe and newer stars as well.

Since 1958, the Hollywood Stars has been recognizing achievers in the entertainment industry, some of which have more than one star. Los Angeles declared the Hollywood Walk of Fame a cultural and historic landmark in1978. Anytime of year, you can find throngs of visitors here, especially in the western part of Hollywood Boulevard. There are here to take pictures of the Hollywood Stars and another popular nearby California attraction; the historic Mann’s Chinese Theatre, which is the scene of hot movie premiere. In front of this structure there are handprints in the sidewalk of famous celebrities along with their name, so you can see why this part of Los Angeles is always part of any Hollywood tour.

There are stars in Hollywood CA that are not in a star shaped, and these are the four round stars on the each corner at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine commermorating the astronauts of Apollo 11. Hollywood Stars have also been given to entertainment icons that aren’t people. Mickey Mouse, Lassie, and Bir Bird each have a star on Hollywood Boulevard.

If you’re in LA, there is a lot to see and do beside the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There are the La Brea Tar Pits, the various movie studios you can tour, and excellent Southern California beaches line the coast from Malibu to San Diego.

You can easily take a Hollywood tour if you want to see of the Walk of Fame, but it is a lot of fun to walk down and try to see the stars yourself. This top California attraction is undoutedly among the top things to see in Los Angeles. You will find a lot of crowds at this part of Hollywood CA, but it only adds to the excitement of visiting Southern California.
