Movie Studios

La Movie Studio

Hollywood and Southern California is famous for its movie studios. The entertainment industry is the main economy in California, and Hollywood movie studios like Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios are famous for making some of the biggest movies of all time.

Nestor Studio, founded in 1911 was the first of the famous Hollywood movie studios. Within years, others followed, transforming Los Angeles into a one of a kind filmmaking mecca.

Today, there are over a dozen movie studios in Hollywood. Some of them have guided tours, like the fun tram through the back lot of Universal Studios. A lot of the television studios in Hollywood like Columbia actually got started as movie theatres and switched to television when the technology evolved.

Universal Studios has had their famous theme park open to the public since 1968. Today, it is one of the premiere attractions on Hollywood Boulevard. Universal Studios has created the most well known monsters of the big screen, like Bela Lugosi’s creepy Dracula and Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, as well as the unforgettable Wolf Man with Lon Chaney, Jr. There are always long lines waiting for Universal Studios tickets in the summer months. You can avoid long lines in the park if you purchase your Front of Line pass online, since these Universal Studios tickets sell out early at the gate every day.

Some of the most well known television and movie studios like Fox, CBS Television City, Disney, Warner Brothers, and Paramount Pictures are all right here in Los Angeles. The historic Charlie Chaplin Studios is one of the oldest motion pictures studios, since it has been there on the corner of La Brea and De Longpre since 1917, which is just south of Sunset Boulevard.

Many of the television studios have live tapings of different TV shows that guests can get free tickets to. Paramount Pictures tapes Frasier, so if you like this comedy you should go to this studio. To learn more about the history of television and movie, go to the Hollywood Heritage museum, which is on the corner of Selma and Vine street.

This area is a movie lovers dream come true. On a tour of CBS Television Studios you can see the places where stars have filmed well known TV shows and hit movies. Movie studios are just one aspect of the attractions on Hollywood Boulevard. From the strange stores like Ripley’s Believe it or not to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you will enjoy spending a weekend around the magic of moviemaking at the Hollywood movie studios.
