North Lake Tahoe Hotels

North Lake Tahoe hotels come in a range of styles and price ranges, from budget-friendly motels to the luxurious resorts in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. While not all of the Tahoe North Shore hotels provide the same activities and amenities on-site, all guests will have access to the great outdoor activities and nearby attractions, such as beaches, ski resorts, and hiking trails. North Lake Tahoe accommodations have something to appeal to every traveler, and it doesn’t hurt that the beautiful Lake Tahoe setting has nearly endless things to do and see.
Bed and breakfasts are often the most charming accommodation experiences while on any vacation; not only do these allow you to get in touch with the local flavors, but guests can also interact with local residents, who can often share terrific tips on the area’s best attractions. These specific North Lake Tahoe accommodations also have their own range of styles and prices, but most have a rustic cabin-type environment. Popular B&B options for North Lake Tahoe hotels include the Shore House at Lake Tahoe, Stanford Alpine Chalet (pictured), and the Rainbow Lodge. These often have fewer rooms than the larger Tahoe North Shore hotels, so if your heart is set on one property, be sure to book ahead.
If you’re looking to save some money, remember that staying in a motel doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality. In fact, the motels along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe can be quite luxurious in their own way. One of the popular options for budget North Lake Tahoe hotels is the Lake of the Sky Inn, which is found in Tahoe City and boasts a heated pool; ski shuttles to Alpine Meadows, Homewood, and Squaw Valley; and easy access to bike trails, river rafting, and beaches. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and there’s a free continental breakfast as well.
The Franciscan Lakeside Lodge is another popular option, particularly if you’re looking for a vacation rental-type accommodation but are planning to save money. The Franciscan is a charming set of lakeside cottages, which come in one- and two-bedroom styles and are fully furnished. Some even have fireplaces. If you’re interested in staying in the Kings Beach area, this is a great place to be.
The higher end Lake Tahoe North Shore hotels and resorts are also excellent. Ski resorts in the area include The Lodge at Sugar Bowl, the Northstar Resort, the Ritz-Carlton Highlands, and Plumpjack Squaw Valley. The historic Border House has beautiful rooms and amenities, and there are two Hyatt properties in Incline Village (the Hyatt High Sierra and the Hyatt Regency) that can cater to travelers seeking 5 star accommodations and amenities, such as private suites and spa services.
Opting for a vacation rental, such as a condo, apartment, or cottage, is also a terrific option for enjoying the picturesque setting around Lake Tahoe. These may seem price, but they’re often a great deal if you’re traveling in a group or are looking to save money by preparing your own meals rather than eating out. These North Lake Tahoe accommodations are also an excellent option if you’re planning to stay a long while, as they offer the comforts of home but have easy access to the ski resorts and golf courses in the area, among other attractions. From motels to resorts to condos and cabins, North Lake Tahoe provides plenty of options for the perfect vacation—the only hard part is going home.
