Lake Tahoe resorts are almost as famous as the local landscape. Many travelers are drawn to Lake Tahoe for the hiking, boating, beaches, or the skiing during the winter, but the fabulous resorts themselves are also a significant attraction. The best resorts in Lake Tahoe will be a personal choice, depending on your likes and needs. Lake Tahoe also has a reputation for being a great destination for gambling, as it’s right on the Nevada border. If you’re looking to combine some outdoor adventure with a little blackjack, than the casino resorts might be your top choice. Head to Stateline where you can try your luck at Harrah’s or MontBleu (pictured). These Lake Tahoe resorts will also offer a range of entertainment, from live concerts to comedy to shows for kids. Whether you are a casual gambler or are looking to bet big, you will find your type of fun at these resorts.

If you’re more interested in skiing than gambling, than focus in on spectacular ski resorts in Tahoe. There are more than a dozen ski resorts in Lake Tahoe, with some of them achieving higher status than the others. In South Lake Tahoe, the top ski resorts are Heavenly ski resort, Sierra at Tahoe, and Kirkwood. In North Lake Tahoe, many people choose Alpine Meadows, Diamond Peak, or Squaw Valley. There are a few ski resorts in Tahoe beyond these main areas as well, including Northstar ski resort in Truckee and Sugar Bowl ski resort in Donner Summit.

Some visitors couldn’t care less about the ski conditions and are concerned instead with the offerings of Tahoe spa resorts. After a long hike or a day spent white water rafting, returning to the resort for a relaxing spa treatment is the perfect way to end a day. Tahoe spa resorts can cross over with over categories, meaning they can also be a ski resort or a casino. Squaw Valley, for example, is known for its spa, as well as the MontBleu Resort. A variety of hotels offer spa treatments (whether just a few or an extensive list) and include the Cal Neva Resort, the Hyatt Regency, and the Ridge Tahoe Spa. There are also many day spas in the area if you choose a hotel without a spa, or go the direction of a spacious vacation rental.

Lake Tahoe resorts have one other great feature: Many of them offer transportation from the Reno Tahoe Airport, meaning you don’t have to rent a car if you don’t want to. This international airport is a one-hour drive from most ski resorts, and some of the best resorts of a shuttle service between the airport and the hotel. While many travelers choose vacation rentals instead of resorts, this transportation does remove some of the hassle from reaching your accommodation. Whether you’re looking for a place to unwind or just a place to lay your head while you take in everything that Lake Tahoe has to offer, these resorts are sure to fit your style.
