Mt Shasta Ski Park
Mt Shasta Ski Park is one of the best places in the region to enjoy some California skiing. It has the great advantage of being located in an utterly breathtaking part of the state, surrounded by national parks and forests. Mount Shasta Ski Park is at the heart of the Shasta National Forest, and within very close proximity to Klamath National Forest, Modoc National Forest, and Rogue River National Forest; it's also not far from Lassen Volcanic National Park. Although the Mount Shasta Ski Resort is situated well off of the beaten path, you will be able to access a variety of accommodations in nearby Shasta (about ten minutes from the park) using Interstate 5.
The Mt Shasta Ski Park features over 420 acres of skiable terrain, a 1,390-foot vertical drop, 32 trails, and 4 lifts. There are two terrain parks. One of them is rather small and is located on the beginner’s trails. The other terrain park is much larger and mainly for advanced skiers and boarders. It is located between the two main lifts onsite. The runs are divided up in such a way that skiers and boarders of any age will be able to have a fun time at Mount Shasta Ski Park. Twenty percent of the runs are suitable for beginners, 55 percent for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, and 25 percent for advanced riders. This area of California receives an average of nearly 300 inches of snow every year. There is a 300-foot Super Halfpipe and the longest run stretches for 1.75 miles.
You won’t have to worry about ski equipment rental, dining, or activities for the kids either when you visit Mount Shasta Ski Resort. There are four options onsite for dining and drinking. After an exciting day of ripping down the runs at Mt Shasta it is nice to sit back with friends or family and have a drink and meal.
Equipment rental is a breeze at the ski park as well. You can also buy gear, get adjustments to your equipment, and take lessons. If the kids are getting a little bored with lessons or trying to stay up on their skis, you can always take them across the street to Snowman’s Hill where you will find sledding, tubing, and all kinds of other fun activities that will keep the little ones going for hours. Mt Shasta Ski Park has something for people of all ages to be sure.
There are ski-n-stay packages available through Mount Shasta Ski Park. These help you save money on nearby accommodations with which the ski park has partnerships. For instance, you can bundle your ski packages with your lodging at places like the Best Western Tree House, Bodhana Shasta, Cave Springs, Finlandia Motel and Lodge, and many more. This is a great way for groups of friends to save even more money. All you have to do is drive a few miles outside of the Mount Shasta Ski Resort Area, and you will find a selection of not only accommodations, but also restaurants, bars, and ski and board shops.
