For those who are looking for an upscale experience at one of the Newport Beach resorts, the Resort at Pelican Hill shouldn’t let you down. This resort has the most luxurious rooms in the area, and besides being spacious, these rooms, or bungalows have you, are well-appointed and amenity-filled. A limestone fireplace, travertine floors, a marble bathroom, and wood-beam ceilings help to give the bungalows a regal look, and among the in-room amenities are a plasma TV, a DVD/CD player, complimentary bathrobes and slippers, and a safe for your valuables. If you can afford to spend extra, you might prefer booking a larger villa, which will allow you access to a private pool and clubhouse. If you are looking to enjoy some California golf during your visit, the Resort at Pelican Hill offers 36 holes that were designed by master designer Tom Fazio. In addition to the two golf courses, the resort also features a spa, where you can enjoy any number of rejuvenating treatments. There is also an array of dining choices here that range from more casual to upscale, so you won’t have to go far for a good meal. Should the Resort at Pelican Hill be out of your price range, other luxury Newport Beach resorts that offer lower rates include the Balboa Bay Club and Resort, and the Balboa Inn the Resort, which is found on Balboa Island.

On the south side of Newport Beach, you’ll find another one of the top Newport Beach resorts. The Marriott Newport Coast Villas (pictured at top) is luxurious both inside and out, and while the rates here are cheaper than what they are at the Resort at Pelican Hill, they are still among the highest in the area. Thankfully, you get quite a lot for your money. Among the facilities at this well-manicured lodging establishment are 4 outdoor pools, a pool snack bar, 3 hot tubs, a spa, a fitness center, a small deli and grocery store, tennis courts, and a game room. There is also a barbecue area where you can enjoy picnics. There are no less than 623 rooms at this large hotel, and each room, or villa as they are called, is tastefully decorated and keen on amenities. They are also spacious, offering 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. In the master suites, you’ll find a king-size bed, a larger bathtub, and a shower. All the villas have full kitchens, so you can whip up some tasty meals on your own, and other amenities include cable TV, a breakfast bar, a sofa bed, air conditioning, down pillows, internet access, a safe, laundry facilities, a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board. While the Marriott Newport Coast Villas doesn’t have it’s own restaurant, there are enough within walking distance to not pose a problem.

While the Newport Beach resorts are excellent places to base yourself, you can also look to the more standard Newport Beach hotels for a comfortable lodging experience. A small hotel, the Bay Shores Peninsula is a lodging gem, offering great rooms and an excellent location. You’re within walking distance of the both the bay and the ocean beaches, not to mention a slew of shops and restaurants when you stay at this mid-priced hotel. There are only 25 rooms to choose from, some of which are larger suites, so you’ll want to book ahead when possible, especially in the busier summer months. Each room and suite is decorated with colorful tones, which helps to carry a beach theme, and each features cable TV, air conditioning, a DVD player, a CD player, a fridge, and a coffee maker. Included in the rates at the Bay Shores Peninsula Hotel are boogie boards, beach towels, and chairs that you can rent for free, and a complimentary breakfast is also included. An evening turndown service, which features chocolates and a relaxing CD, is available at an extra fee.

If cheaper lodging in Newport Beach is something that interests you, you can pass on the aforementioned resorts and hotels and select something a little farther away from the beach. While the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa and the Island Hotel Newport Beach are other mid-priced hotels worth recommending, they are still priced a bit high. The Holiday Inn Express, however, offers some pretty low rates that are sure to pique the interest of budget travelers. In addition to attractive and spacious rooms, the Holiday Inn Express offers event facilities, and a great location, so it’s ideal for both leisure and business travelers who are looking to pay less on their lodging in Newport Beach. A complimentary breakfast is included in the rates here, and among the amenities that you can expect in the comfortable and attractive rooms are cable TV, a coffee maker, a hair dryer, air conditioning, complimentary high-speed internet access, a refrigerator, and an iron and ironing board. Ample furnishings are also part of the plan in each room.
