Golfing is one of the top things to do in the Palm Springs area, and if you are really serious about playing during your trip to the region, then a stay at the famed La Quinta Resort & Club (pictured) is worth considering. Established in 1926, this resort has been a fixture on the Palm Springs scene for some time now, and it's also worth mentioning that the city of La Quinta is named after it. On the golfing side of things, this Waldorf Astoria property offers five immaculate courses, the likes of which were designed by such industry leaders as Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman. In addition to these fabulous courses, the La Quinta Resort & Club also offers one of the country's best golf schools, so if nothing else, you might take a lesson or two. World-class tennis facilities are also among the resort's fine facilities. There's also a quality spa for those who like to be pampered, and on the dining side of things, there are four sumptuous restaurants to choose from. As for the accommodations, guests can stay at a spa villa, book a suite, cozy up in a casita, and even rent a luxurious condo or home. All of the units are very nicely outfitted, making them ideal places to relax and recharge your batteries.

The Embassy Suites La Quinta hotel is one of the other La Quinta California resorts that aims to please, especially for travelers who like to be pampered. Inspired by the tropical bliss of Hawaii, the spa at the La Quinta Embassy Suites offers eight treatment rooms, a fitness center that guests are free to use, and stations where you can get both manicures and pedicures. Another good place to relax during your stay at this clean and comfortable hotel is the outdoor pool area, especially on warmer days. Getting around to the other facilities, they include a restaurant that offers California cuisine and plenty of California wines at its bar. The restaurant at the Embassy Suites La Quinta is only open for lunch and dinner. That's due to the fact that guests can enjoy complimentary cooked-to-order breakfasts. That's something you won't find at most hotels, regardless of where you are thinking of traveling to. As for the Embassy Suites guest units, they are all spacious suites. In addition to a tasteful decor, these suites offer two TVs, two phones with voicemail, plush towels, hair dryers, and more. Book an executive room, and you'll also have a full kitchen and private laundry facilities at your disposal.

The La Quinta Resort & Spa might be the king of the La Quinta California resorts, but it's not the only hotel in the area that offers resort-style amenities. Over at the Homewood Suites by Hilton La Quinta, a lovely pool and patio area is among the main perks. There's also a fitness room where you can burn off both calories and stress, and guests can get activity recommendations at the recreation desk. There's also a concierge desk, should you need help finding area attractions such as Knotts Soak City or other things to do.
