Palm Springs Weather

The Palm Springs weather is warm and sunny year-round. This desert community enjoys more than 300-plus days of sunshine a year and the majority of these days have no trace of participation whatsoever. For many travelers, the best time to visit is in the spring and the fall, when the days are bright and the temperatures are mild. Even in the winter, it's warm enough to enjoy a game of golf or a hike in the mountains. Summers tend to be quite warm, with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees on average and low humidity. In all four seasons, the surrounding mountains provide a shelter from the smog and storms.

January and February: The Palm Springs weather forecast will reliably call for sunny, dry days and high temperatures comfortably between 65 and 75 degrees. Nighttime temperatures can fall into the 40s, but once the sun comes up again, the days warm up quickly. Freezing temperatures, while not impossible, are extremely rare during these months. Winter is the most likely time for storms, with an average of an inch of rain each month, but it's rarely cloudy for several days in a row.

March and April: In the spring, the Palm Springs weather forecast tends to resemble summer weather in other parts of the country. The average temperature begins to rise by early weeks of March, while the chance for rainfall decreases dramatically with each passing week. In the early weeks of spring, Palm Springs visitors can expect highs in the low-to-mid 80s and bright sunshine, perfect weather for hitting the links or hiking in San Jacinto State Park. By the end of April, the Palm Springs weather begins to really warm up, with temperatures creeping towards the 90-degree mark.

May through September: Summertime in the desert is hot, but the weather is not as high as other places in the Sonoran Desert like Death Valley. May is typically the first time the Palm Springs weather forecast calls for highs in the 100s. The average temperature in June, July, August, and September, all cross the century mark, while the chance for rain is nearly zero. Even during the warmest months of the year, the low humidity can keep things feeling more comfortable.

October through December: The weather remains warm and sunny in the fall and early winter, although not as warm as the previous months. Rain tends to pick up the closer you get to the end of the year, but there are still plenty of sunny days during this time.
