Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a community built entirely on a sandbar in between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay in San Diego, with beautiful beaches on both the Pacific and Bay side. The Pacific white-sand beach stretches for nearly two miles along some of the most gorgeous coastline in San Diego, and there is a boardwalk along both. The San Diego River borders Mission Beach to the south while Pacific Beach borders to the north. A Mission Beach boardwalk extends along both sides, ocean and bay. Mission Beach San Diego is divided up into North and South Mission. The main drag where many hotels, clubs, and restaurants can be found is Mission Boulevard.

There are many attractions and activities at your disposal at Mission Beach. One of the great appeals of this beach is that many of the activities are free of cost. The Mission Beach Boardwalk is the sight of many interesting people and places. There are seemingly countless bars, restaurants and shops and many people just enjoy activities like rollerblading, biking and people watching. There are several places where you can rent beach cycles, roller blades, and skates on Ventura Place and Mission Boulevard. Mission Beach San Diego is not only a perfect place to enjoy the excellent sun and warm waters of Southern California, but also a place where you will find lots of entertainment.

Belmont Park is a beachfront amusement park and recreation center where you can enjoy the Mission Beach surf and sun with the entire family. Perhaps the best part of the entire experience at Belmont Park is that admission and parking are both absolutely free. There are a variety of traditional rides and roller coasters as well as alluring features like the Wave House, which offers a large wave pool and other water rides and slides. You can also enjoy miniature golf, a huge arcade, a laser maze, and other great attractions. The food and gift shops are plentiful at Belmont Park just as they are along the Mission Beach Boardwalk. You can choose from fine dining restaurants or county fair-style food. There is something for everyone to enjoy from young to old at Belmont Park on Mission Beach.

The nightlife is also a very popular reason why so many people head to Mission Beach. Many of the bars and clubs are very casual, beach-oriented establishments where you can enjoy light fare, a good drink, and friendly company. People just outside the beach bars often take on a game of horseshoes or volleyball. One of the beach bars in Mission Beach even features a miniature wave pool in the style of the larger one nearby at Belmont Park. The fun and casual environment at the area restaurants, pubs, and shops adds to the appeal of spending a day at Mission Beach. And other attractive beaches are nearby as well. You can bike or walk the Mission Beach Boardwalk a couple miles to Pacific Beach to the north.

Mission Beach San Diego is a popular destination for tourists and local college students who pack onto the beach especially during the warmest months.
