San Diego Wild Animal Park

The San Diego Wild Animal Park is a large zoo located in the San Pasqual Valley section of San Diego. The city is home to such famous attractions as the San Diego SeaWorld, Old Town, and the Gaslamp Quarter, but the Wild Animal Park may actually be the most popular. It is one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in all of Southern California bringing in over 2 million people through its gates every year. This is not at all hard to believe in light of the fact that the Wild Animal Park encompasses over 1,800 acres of semi-arid land that features over 400 species of animals and some 3,500 species of plants. The San Diego Wild Animal Park houses species of animals from every continent except Antarctica. It is a place where young and old alike come together to marvel at the spectacular plant and animal life of Planet Earth.

Journey into Africa is one of the most popular exhibitions in the park where visitors ride a tram into free-range enclosures and can see cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and lions. The semi-arid/sub-tropical climate mix in San Diego make the Wild Animal Park an ideal and fitting home for many of these animals and for those people who want to catch a glimpse of them in action, but cannot make the trip all the way to Africa to do so.

The San Diego Wild Animal Park actually features a number of these popular, large enclosures. Visitors see firsthand the various habitats represented by animals in the zoo including the Asian Plains, East Africa, South Africa, and the Mountain Habitat. Some of the smaller enclosures at the Wild Animal Park feature rarely seen animals such as the Kiangs. In fact, San Diego has one of the only captive populations of this endangered wild equine in the world. As you make your way on the tram through the park, you will also be entertained by the sights and sounds of black rhinoceroses, bonobos, wild horses, gorals, and even mountain zebras. Wild Animal Park tickets are as hot an item as they are largely because of the stunning range of animals on display.

A day at the San Diego Wild Animal Park is unlike any other zoo visit in the country. It is a truly distinctive environment because of the favorable, natural weather conditions in Southern California. It is not always easy to find discounts to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego unless of course you are visiting in a large group, so you may want to organize a trip with friends to get the best deal on Wild Animal Park tickets.

Whether you plan your visit with friends or family this will be a memorable experience for everyone. The interactive element of the tram running though the park’s various large enclosures gives people the feeling of coexisting with the animals. Rather than simply walking through crowds of people just to get a peak at a few animals behind glass walls, the San Diego Wild Park Museum takes you on a ride through the habitats themselves. Get your Wild Animal Park tickets in advance or at the gate and experience the journey for yourself.
