Snow Valley is a popular ski and snowboarding destination in California. It is situated in the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest surrounded by some of the loveliest land in this part of the state and not far from Snow Summit and Big Bear Mountain. The Snow Valley Ski Resort is relatively small, but boasts an excellent array of runs and a nice mixture to accommodate skiers and boarders of all skill levels. Snow Valley is located about five miles east of the city of Running Springs along Highway 18. With thirteen lifts and over 240 acres of skiable terrain, you will find that the Snow Valley Mountain Resort is well worth a ski vacation.
The top elevation at the Snow Valley Ski Area is over 7,800 feet. The vertical drop is just over the 1,000-foot mark and the longest run is 1.2 miles. This relatively small and family-friendly resort makes enough artificial snow to cover 180 acres if need be, although, the average annual snowfall in this part of the region is usually enough to create a good deal of fluffy, natural snow.
This resort has been open for over 70 years and has developed a reputation as a fine resort offering lessons, ski equipment rental, challenging runs, and a welcoming environment that encourages families and groups of friends to continue to come back for more winter fun and excitement. Although there is no Snow Valley lodging directly on the premises, there are a wide variety of options for hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts nearby in Running Springs and Lake Arrowhead. There are also a number of places to get a meal, snack, or a drink at the Snow Valley Mountain Resort. Whether you are interested in a hearty meal after a long day of skiing or boarding, or simply a beer or hot cup of coffee to wind down the day, you will find it at your disposal here.
One of the highlights of Snow Valley is the Edge Terrain Park. It features nearly a mile of terrain suitable for intermediate to advanced riders, including rails and boxes and all kinds of jumps. Slide Peak is one of the most adventurous and challenging ski runs at the Snow Valley Mountain Resort. It is at its most daunting when the weather is most inclement and the natural snow is in abundance on the mountain. Use Lift 9 to get up to this hidden gem and discover some of the Snow Valley back country. Snow Play is a great area for families with children who are looking for some fun and safe activities to keep them happy throughout the day. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day and there are limited childcare services onsite.
The Sport Shop is also something worth checking out. You can have your equipment tweaked or adjusted here, or you can purchase new gear. Lessons are also available to skiers and boarders of all ages and skill levels at Snow Valley, so do not be intimidated to get out there and try for the first time. On the other hand, if you are an old pro, you will find plenty of challenging and thrilling runs at this longstanding and beautiful ski resort in California.
