Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach California is found just to the northwest of Huntington Beach and south of Seal Beach, and is just one of the Orange County destinations where you can enjoy plenty of fun in the sun. Offering a small town feel, it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle in nearby Los Angeles. There are only some 1,300 people that reside in Sunset Beach, and so small is the community, that residents pick up all their mail at the local post office. Whether you live here or not, you can find out all about local events by stopping in at the post office, which for all intents and purposes, is the city’s main social center. As is customary of most beaches in California, the beach in Sunset Beach boasts sand volleyball courts and public restrooms, and while the facilities and concessions here are few, there are fast-food restaurants close by in case you get hungry or thirsty. You can always bring a cooler or a picnic basket as well and enjoy a relaxing snack or meal of your preference.

Speaking of the sights at Sunset Beach California, the skyline of nearby Long Beach is within view, and should you have the time, the Long Beach attractions deserve consideration. As for the Sunset Beach attractions, the beach is the main draw. The Sunset Aquatic Regional Park is also one of the main Sunset Beach attractions, and it is without question one of the more enjoyable spots in the area to watch the sun go down over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Just behind the park are boats that are docked near the main water tower house. Boating is one of the favorite activities for those enjoying vacations to Sunset Beach, and there is a launch ramp at the Sunset Marina, which is also near the park. For those who prefer to do some kayaking, kayak rentals are available in Sunset Beach, and you can also rent canoes, motorized rafts, and hydro bikes. In addition to taking to the water in a specialized craft, those planning vacations to Sunset Beach can also consider arranging a sport fishing outing, as there are companies here that will be more than happy to take you out to sea for some world-class angling.

Just across the street from the lovely beach in Sunset Beach is a bay, which is where most kayakers prefer to launch their crafts. While paddling around, you’re sure to get at least a few waves from the friendly locals should you stick to the shoreline. While kayaking in Sunset Beach California is ideal for adults and teens, younger children will appreciate the fact that the Sunset Beach attractions include something that is more appropriate for them. Near the beach and close to the Oceanfront Ramada Limited Hotel is a playground. Soft sand surrounds the playground, which helps to make it a safe place to play. Just next to the playground is a free parking lot. In addition to the Ramada Limited, there are other hotels along the Pacific Coast Highway where those planning vacations to Sunset Beach can book a room.

The Sunset Beach attractions are great, but somewhat limited, as this community is small, but for those looking for things to add to their itineraries, there are plenty of area attractions to enjoy. Nearby Long Beach is full of things to do, and among the main attractions there is the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is most ideal for families. Just eighteen miles to the south in Anaheim is Disneyland, which is another top southern California family attraction. Both Anaheim and Long Beach are great places to stay, but when you opt instead to stay in Sunset Beach, you can return to a more relaxed environment after a fun-filled southern California day, which is what some visitors to the region will prefer. Sunset Beach is not an entirely quiet destination, however, and there are some great bars and restaurants in town where you can enjoy a meal or drinks with friends both old and new.
