When you tire of gunfights, dinosaurs and outdoor activity and long for some rest and relaxation, pay a visit to the Holy Cross Abbey and Winery, which is located on the east side of Cañon City as enter the town on US 50 from Pueblo. This beautiful structure will immediately attract your attention. However, you may notice that it seems a bit out of place architecturally with the Victorian and Territorial structures that predominate in town. This Gothic style structure was actually built in 1924, and served for a number of years as a boys' school. Today, it is home to approximately 20 monks.
