Figuring out the top ten things to do in Colorado may well be one of the most difficult decisions in your entire life. There are so many fun things to do in Colorado that people can live there for years and fail to do all of them. The attractions in Colorado are as varied as its weather patterns. As such, Colorado is a year round vacation destination. Although our list may be subjective, here is an overview of some of the best things to do in Colorado. 


Go Skiing or Snowboarding


Great season pass bargains, great terrain and awesome powder make snow sports one of the most fun things to do in Colorado. Choose from the “party resorts” family skiing areas, or find your own trail in the backcountry.


Take a Hike


Hike through the mountains that inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write “America the Beautiful. Make sure to hike Pike’s Peak, which is one of the most popular places to visit in Colorado.


Come for the Waters


Water sports are another one of the fun things to do in Colorado. Nestled between the Gore, Williams Fork and Ten Mile mountain ranges, the Lake Dillon Reservoir provides 3,300 acres of waters. Sailboats, motorboats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboats can be rented at the full service marinas in Dillon and Frisco. Thrill seekers may prefer to go rafting through some Rocky Mountain Whitewater. These dare devils should check out Brown’s Canyon on the Arkansas River.


Fish for Compliments


Fishing is another one of the more popular things to do in Colorado. The Blue River, which averages 80-100 feet across, flows through the Gore Mountains to the Colorado River near Kremmling. It is considered a Gold Medal fishery which provides good food sources as well as consistent quality hatches. At the Green Mountain Reservoir, located at the north end of Summit County, you can find rainbows, browns, lake trout and kokanee salmon. You can also water-ski and camp out around the lake. Lake Dillon is also stocked with kokanee salmon, as well as cutthroat and brook trout.


Visit the Mile High City


Denver is a thriving urban environment that offers great restaurants, museums and cultural activities.


Get Bolder in Boulder


Pay a visit to this city known for its artistic environment.


Take in some Wildlife


Rocky Mountain National Park is another one of the most popular places to visit in Colorado. Here, you can get up close and personal with some of the wildlife that is indigenous to the state.


Get Along Little Doggie


Mush, mush! Dog sledding in the winter is one of the most enjoyable things to do in Colorado.


The Theatre, Darling


Throughout Denver, Boulder, Summit County, Aspen and Grand Junction, the arts are alive and well in Colorado.


Ride the Rails


Yes, you can do this at the terrain parks in the ski resorts. However, there are a number of historic Colorado railroads that still exist today. Why not take a ride through history?
