Smyrna Beach Florida is a popular destination for Florida tours as well as last-minute Florida vacations. Smyrna beach is just a short drive away from Orlando as well as Daytona Beach shores.

The highlight of New Smyrna Beach Florida is its white sandy beaches that take up thirteen miles of coast line. The beach offers some of the best surfing on the Eastern Seaboard and is also ideal for swimming, sunbathing, or taking in the scenery with a stroll along the beach. Vacations to New Smyrna beach often include surfing lessons from one of the many surf shops located along the coast.

Vacations to New Smyrna Beach usually include a stop at Smyrna Dunes Park. Smyrna Dunes Park is located on the northern tip of the New Smyrna Beach Florida peninsula and consists of a vast system of sand dunes that can be explored by walking on elevated walkways that run through the park. The hike through the dunes is approximately two miles long and takes around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on your speed and how often you stop to admire the scenery. Smyrna Dunes Park also has pavilions, picnic areas, and an observation tower that affords a wonderful view of the Atlantic Ocean. There are several Florida hotels, resorts, and bed and breakfasts located within a few miles of the park.

Another highlight of vacations to New Smyrna Beach is Bethune Beach Park. Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River in New Smyrna Beach Florida, Bethune Beach Park offers several recreational activities such as tennis courts, basketball courts, a fishing dock, and a playground. There is also a community building and a pavilion with picnic tables and grills. A boardwalk on the ocean is known for its manatee sightings.

If you like history, the Sugar Mill ruins are a must-see attraction for vacations to New Smyrna Beach. The old sugar mills, which are no longer functional, were built during the early nineteenth century during the Native American uprising. The sugar mill is set upon seventeen acres of land that contains ruins of buildings that were destroyed between the battles of the United States and the Seminole Indians.

With its miles of public beaches and its ecological and historical sites, New Smyrna Beach makes for an interesting vacation. The beachside community is only an hour's drive from Orlando attractions such as Disneyworld and SeaWorld, making it a great option for a day trip from Orlando.
