Destin Weather

Destin weather is one of the key ingredients to the formula that makes this destination along Florida’s Emerald Coast such an inviting vacation spot. Destin enjoys a stunning average of 340 days of sunshine each year. The average temperatures in the winter barely drops below the mid-50s, so you can imagine what the climate is like throughout the other months of the year. The best time to travel to Destin is truly a subjective call. Many would argue that spring and fall (when temperatures are mild and it is dry) are the best times to go. Others stick to the line that you simply cannot beat the amazing summer in Destin, complete with the glistening emerald waters, pristine beaches, endless seafood, and lots of people bronzing in the sun. In the end, you will have to decide the best time to visit Destin for yourself. At least you can be prepared by getting to know what the weather is like in each season.

Summer is the peak season for tourism in Destin, but the activity is already ramping up in early May and lasts into October, a time for many of the most popular festivals in the city including the Fishing Rodeo. The average high temperatures between the months of May and September range in the 80s and low 90s. The average high temperature in April is 78 degrees. This is also the time when Destin gets the most precipitation, but it only amounts to a few inches every month and rainstorms are generally short lived and followed by sunshine.

Fall is a time when many people choose to travel to this city on the Emerald Coast of Florida. The Destin weather is absolutely perfect during this time of the year. It is not at all uncommon to have beautiful sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60s and 70s through November and December and you will not have to worry about bringing a heavy coat. For many, this is the best time to visit Destin as the climate is mild and warm, there is very little precipitation, and there is a lot going on.

Winter and early spring see a decline in temperatures. The average low temperatures in January and February hover around the 40-degree mark. Once you get into March and April again, the conditions become even more favorable for the beach, golf, and fishing.
