Hawks Cay Resort

The Hawks Cay Resort is widely considered to be one of the best luxury resorts in the Florida Keys. More specifically situated on 60-acre Duck Key, this AAA Four Diamond resort certainly offers a great location, not to mention some of the most desirable accommodations in the region. An abundance of activity options is also something that guests enjoy, and should some pampering be in order, the full-service spa can accommodate.

Few Florida resorts rival the family-friendly Hawks Cay Resort when it comes to location. After all, this upscale retreat is situated on its very own island halfway between Key Largo and Key West. As is true of the Keys in general, the atmosphere is both relaxed and casual, so guests should find it easy to get in the right frame of mind. When the urge to enjoy some activities sets in, there are plenty of tantalizing options. Expert guides are on hand to lead exciting fishing excursions, and Hawks Cay guests can also arrange guided scuba and Snuba trips.

Other ways to keep busy on the side during a Hawks Cay visit include parasailing, taking a sunset cruise, kayaking, paddleboarding, kiteboarding, jet skiing, and going on a Segway tour. The list doesn’t end there, however. Tennis courts are among the extensive facilities, for example, and a JetLev ride can be added to the mix for guests who meet the necessary requirements. JetLevving, for those who might not know, involves strapping a special pack on your back and lifting off into the sky for an unforgettable flying adventure.

An elegant tropical decor awaits in each and every unit, and standard amenity highlights include a flat screen TV, premium bedding, and complimentary internet access. There are approximately 400 Hawks Cay Resort guest units, and many of these guests units are villas. There are different villa categories, and these categories include the Sunset Village Villas, the Marina Village Villas, the Harbor Village Villas, and the Specialty Villas. Each of the various villa villages has its own atmosphere and appeal, and this can influence the decision of which villa to ultimately select. At the Marina Village, for example, there is a delightful waterfront promenade, and the Sunset Village is known for its wonderful sunset views. Harbor Village features such things as boat dockage and a boardwalk. As for the Specialty Villas, they cater to those with special needs, and since they are limited in number, it can be a very good idea to book one well in advance.

As a side note, some rather budget-friendly vacation rental villas are available on Hawks Cay for those who wish to go the cheaper route. As is true of the more upscale villas, these cheaper accommodations are well-equipped and can meet the needs of those who are looking to enjoy the home away from home experience.

The main pool at the Hawks Cay Resort is better than ever. This has something to do with the fact that it was given some significant attention when the resort underwent major renovations in 2008. Among other things, the pool was expanded, and guests can now rent a private poolside cabana that features butler service. Other things that can be enjoyed at the main Hawks Cay Resort pool are fun games, music, and the convenient food and beverage service. Complementing the main pool at the Hawks Cay Resort are several other pools, and guests can also swim or perhaps snorkel in the resort’s saltwater lagoon. It should be noted that one of the pools at the Hawks Cay Resort is an adults only pool, while another is kid-oriented and features a pirate ship feature with water slides.
