Fort Lauderdale Beach comprises nearly seven miles of land along the breathtakingly beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Scuba diving, snorkeling, rollerblading, volleyball, and windsurfing are all popular activities along the shoreline. Fort Lauderdale Beach is also home to the Aquatics Center and Las Olas Marina, as well as several boutiques, cafes, and souvenir shops. Fort Lauderdale Ocean Rescue supervises the three-mile stretch of shoreline from the South Beach Picnic Area up to the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, with twenty permanently staffed lifeguards on duty until 5 p.m. daily, making Fort Lauderdale Beach a safe, relaxing destination for beachgoers of all ages.
