Fruitland Park Florida

Fruitland Park is a Florida city that calls Lake County home. This county is aptly named, as an abundance of lakes dot the region. Fruitland Park itself is on the west shore of the Dead River, which is part of larger Lake Griffin. It is here that visitors will find Lake Griffin State Park. A good alternative to the theme parks and other manmade attractions in the Orlando area, Lake Griffin State Park covers 620 acres and offers insight into the more wild side of Florida. Walking along the nature trail, enjoying a picnic, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are among the popular park activities, and overnight camping is available. Lake Griffin State Park visitors will want to make a point of seeing the park’s mammoth oak tree. Estimated to be between 300 and 500 years old, this local landmark is the second largest Live Oak in the state. It is located in the park’s southeastern corner at the end of the nature trail.
