Higgs Beach

Beachcombers of the human and canine variety will both enjoy time at Higgs Beach. This wide, sandy beach is part of the Monroe County Parks system and hugs the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Higgs Beach is located next to the Casa Marina Resort, one of the Key West luxury hotels, between where Reynolds and White streets meet the ocean.

Those who include Higgs Beach Key West in their plans for a Florida Keys vacation can relax, soak up the sun, walk the beach, and stop for a picnic. Active visitors will enjoy the beach volleyball and tennis courts, and the beach is also a fine place for swimming and snorkeling, Fishing is allowed from the long wooden pier, which is also a fine place for a stroll.

The covered picnic tables and palm trees provide a shady retreat from the sun or a place to pause in the middle of a busy day. A local outfitter provides rentals for water sports equipment and beach chairs. The beachside restaurant also takes care of visitors, serving an array of snacks and drinks.

In 2005, man’s best friend found a new place to play with the opening of Higgs Beach Dog Park. Open from sunset to well into the night, the park welcomes dogs of all breeds and sizes. In fact, one site is set aside just for small dogs. Water fountains are found throughout Higgs Beach Dog Park, so canines can stay refreshed.
