Lake City Florida

Lake City can be found near the Georgia border in northern Florida and is the seat of Columbia County. To the immediate northwest of the city is the junction of Interstate 75 and Interstate 10, so the area is a major crossroads for Florida travel. Points of interest in the area include the site of Florida’s only major Civil War battle in nearby Olustee and the forested environs of the Osceola National Forest. Visitors to Lake City can also head further east to Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach for the day or venture north for a boat tour in the large blackwater expanse that is the Okeefenokee Swamp and National Wildlife Refuge. In Lake City itself, there are city parks to enjoy and two historic districts to explore. The historic districts, both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, include the Lake City Historic Commercial District in downtown Lake City and the Lake Isabella Historic Residential District just south of town.
