Macclenny Florida

Macclenny is a small Florida city that can be found in the northern part of the state near Jacksonville. Its location along Interstate 10 makes for easy access and helps explains the city’s hotels. In addition to being close to Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, Macclenny offers proximity to such Florida attractions as the St. John’s River, the Okeefenokee Swamp and the Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park. The St. John’s River is Florida’s longest river and the Okeefenokee Swamp has the designation of being North America’s largest “blackwater” swamp. Both can be enjoyed by way of boat tours. The Olustee Battlefield State Park commemorates the largest Civil War battle site in Florida and features a walking trail with interpretive signs. The park also has a visitor center that doubles as a small museum. Park events include an annual battle reenactment (February) and the Civil War Expo (late summer).
