Disney’s All Star Sports Resort

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is one of three All Star resorts. It is in the Value Resort category and is one of the top choices included in vacation packages to Walt Disney World. A sports theme defines the entire resort, with larger-than-life sports paraphernalia located in places all around the grounds, guest room buildings, and eating areas. Celebrating the excitement and fun of sports is on the minds of all guests here who revel over the enormous icons representing sports of all kinds including basketball, surfing, football, and baseball. The main building at the Disney All Star Sports Hotel comprises the food court, two Disney shops, and the main lobby, created for the most obsessive of sports fanatics. There is also an arcade featuring tons of sports-geared games.

The Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is close to both the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and the Animal Kingdom with another wildlife-theme Disney resort adjacent to it. The resort lies approximately two miles south of Walt Disney World, a distance that is easily traveled via complimentary transportation for guests. Buses travel to more than nine Disney theme parks as well as to surrounding resorts where some guests with additional dining plans can eat. The smoke-free hotel also features a large, well designed children’s playground and two swimming pools.

Rooms

Five three-story buildings house guest rooms and are adorned with sports attributes featuring a specific sports style such as tennis or basketball. Vibrant and magical, each building houses either Standard or Preferred rooms, the only two room options at the Disney All Star Sports Hotel. Standards are for a maximum of four guests with one king size or two double beds. A table and chair set, full bathroom, personal safe, and iron are included. Preferred rooms are only nominally more expensive because they are set closer to the main lobby and major hotel areas, offering a little more convenience. Pool, courtyard, or parking lot views are available. For an additional fee, the hotel honors requests for Internet access and/or a mini fridge. Vacation packages afford even more savings on these efficiencies.

Pools

Two swimming pools provide all the space necessary for guests to splash, swim, and sun by the pool. The main pool called Surfboard Bay and themed accordingly, with giant surf boards adding great detail to the backdrop. The crescent-shaped pool features hundreds of loungers on the sundeck. The smaller pool, named Grand Slam Pool is a baseball diamond shape with a pitcher’s mound highlighted by Goofy in the center skirting water at swimmers.

Dining

Food-court-style dining is at the heart of all Disney Value resorts including the Disney’s All Star Sports Resort which features only this option. Most families find that kids are really into the menu, which includes breakfast items like pancakes and bacon, and dinners like pizza or burgers. This is a menu parents will enjoy but might get bored of but also one kids will never scoff at. With an additional dining plan, guests can choose from additional dining options within the Disney World Resort.
