Disney World Magic Kingdom

One of the signature Orlando attractions, Disney Magic Kingdom is a place where the imagination is encouraged to wander. Join a cast of past and present characters, from Mickey Mouse to the Pirates of the Caribbean. Visit distant lands that you’ve fantasized about since you were a kid and discover adventures from the past, present and future. Home to both Cinderella’s Castle and famed Space Mountain, Disney World Magic Kingdom is sure to meet and exceed all your expectations the next time you are in Orlando, Florida.

Disney Magic Kingdom is just part of the large community of Disney theme parks and attractions found at Walt Disney World. It was first opened to the public in 1971, with Epcot Center, Disney Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom to follow in subsequent years. The most famous of Florida’s theme parks, Disney Magic Kingdom was designed with a similar layout and array of attractions as those found at Disneyland in California. Disney World Magic Kingdom, having originally been tailored to match Disneyland, eventually grew into its own with unique additions added through time. Currently, the park contains around 50 attractions that are separated into seven different themed lands.

The central thoroughfare at Disney World Magic Kingdom is Main Street, USA. Lined with shops and eateries, Main Street, USA is designed to reflect early small-town America as inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood. At the end of the street and off into the distance rises the 189-foot Cinderella Castle, which appears taller than it actually is due to the architectural technique called forced perspective. Every night, as Disney Magic Kingdom prepares to close, one of the most dazzling Magic Kingdom shows uses the castle as a centerpiece. “Wishes Nighttime Spectacular”, a fireworks and pyrotechnical show, features Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy as hosts. It revolves around the various wishes of some of Disney’s most notable characters, both good and bad.

Other Magic Kingdom shows such as “Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor” and “Mickey’s Philharmagic” provide entertainment options that the whole family can enjoy. “Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor” is an interactive comedy show where the crowd is encouraged to submit jokes in a team effort with various Monsters from the movie. At “Mickey’s Philharmagic”, immerse yourself in the adventures of Disney characters like Mickey and Donald Duck as they romp through a 3D experience that is sure to have you chuckling. Have a knee-slappin’ good time with the banjo-strummin’ and joke-tellin’ bears at “Country Bear Jamboree”. In form with all of the other Magic Kingdom shows, the “Country Bear Jamboree” guarantees to put a smile on your face. Shows such as these compliment the wide array of themed rides at Magic Kingdom that offer a mix of big thrills and easygoing affairs that are ideal for the little ones. Big thrill rides include the classic “Space Mountain” and “Splash Mountain”. As if Magic Kingdom’s selection of rides and shows weren’t enough, visitors to the park will also find plenty of side attractions like the “Swiss Family Treehouse” and “The Haunted Mansion”. Regardless of how you choose to spend your day at Magic Kingdom, the memories are sure to last a lifetime.

It is encouraged that when purchasing your Magic Kingdom tickets that you search through the various Florida vacation package options that allow you to save money on admission prices. Walt Disney World features not only theme parks, but a collection of hotels as well, and grouping the Disney experience into one package can mean big savings.
