Panama City Beach Attractions

The Panama City Beach attractions are quite varied. There are amusement parks for families, bars and clubs for the partying crowd, shops that sell all kinds of things, and golf courses for those who like to tee it up while on vacation. This is just the start, however, and of course no discussion about the Panama City Beach scene would complete without touching on the beaches. There are more than 20 miles of beaches in Panama City Beach, and according to many industry insiders, they are among the best beaches in Florida. Spending time at the beach is the most popular thing to do in Panama City Beach. As such, the city’s peak tourism season is summer.

Visitors can engage in all kinds of other activities. Enjoying the rides and attractions at the Shipwreck Island Water Park is just one option, and a visit to the Gulf World Marine Park is something that many tourists look to add to the agenda. Add in all the other great attractions, and it becomes clear that this can be a fun place to escape to for a while.

It is no secret that Panama City Beach is a major Spring Break destination or that it offers lively nightlife during the spring and summer seasons in particular. An almost endless number of bars and clubs are found in town, and they include the renowned Club LaVela. One of the largest nightclubs in Florida, Club LaVela knows how to throw a party. Its extensive facilities include an outdoor pooldeck, a concert venue that hosts live acts with regularity, a chic lounge area and more. Club LaVela is located at 8813 Thomas Drive, and this puts it right on the beach.

Pier Park is without question one of the top attractions in Panama City Beach. An outdoor shopping mall, it offers nearly one million square feet of retail and entertainment space. Popular chain stores that can be found across the country figure among the shops, as do more unique specialty stores and boutiques. Complementing the shops are numerous restaurants and a multi-screen movie theater that shows all the latest flicks. Found between Front Beach Road and Highway 98, Pier Park is in the heart of it all and can easily satisfy a few hours at least.

A visit to Shell Island can make an excellent addition to any and all Panama City Beach vacation itineraries. Found between St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, this undeveloped barrier island offers some pretty spectacular beaches. That’s not all, however. Bottlenose dolphins frequent the waters surrounding the island, and dolphin watching tours can be arranged. When Shell Island visitors aren’t spending time on the beach or keeping an eye out for dolphins on a tour, they can enjoy other activities, such as fishing and snorkeling. Boating is also popular, and boat rentals are available. Visitors are also known to enjoy waverunning tours. St Andrews State Park is a good place to arrange such tours.

Thanks to attractions like the Coconut Creek Family Fun Park, Panama City Beach is a very family-friendly destination. This park and amusement center features attractive tropical landscaping, but this isn’t what it is mostly known for. Visitors come primarily to test their putting skills on the two miniature golf courses and to try to make their way through the Gran Maze. The maze covers an area that is about the size of a football field and is both fun and challenging. Coconut Creek Family Fun Park is open year round, and kids ages five and under get in for free. The location is 9807 Front Beach Road.

Zoo World

Found at 9008 Front Beach Road, this delightful zoo is home to a number of interesting creatures. There are more than 250 animals on display, to be more exact, and they include species that are on the endangered list. Zoo World goes to great lengths to care for all of its creatures, and there is even a care facility for newborns. You can visit this zoo any day of the year, and prospective visitors are encouraged to interest themselves in the center’s educational programs.

Many Panama City Beach visitors look to enjoy the Sea Dragon Pirate Cruise experience. This experience involves boarding a boat that is designed to look like a pirate ship and taking to the waters off the Panama City Beach coast. At one point during the two-hour cruises, the boat enters the waters surrounding Shell Island, and it is common for guests to spot dolphins. Music helps to keep the fun going, and both food and beverages are available in the galley. This is an experience that caters to all ages, and private charters can be arrange for those who are interested.
