Better yet, since this is Florida, you can golf year round, and it doesn't hurt that there are a bunch of great attractions to check out on the side. Golfing enthusiasts won't want to forget their clubs when coming to the Pensacola area. The Marcus Pointe Golf Course (pictured) alone is worth the hassle. This eighteen-hole course near Pensacola is among the best public courses in the Panhandle region, which is evidenced by the fact that it has hosted a variety of big time golf events. Trees are in good supply on this beautiful woodlands course, and if you choose to shoot from the back tees, it is 6,700 yards long with a par of 72. Excellent practice facilities and an inviting clubhouse only accentuate the appeal of this course, and you might be surprised at how friendly the rates are. You can find the Marcus Pointe Golf Course northwest of Downtown Pensacola at 2500 Oak Pointe Drive.

Also found to the near north of Downtown Pensacola is The Moors Golf Course. More specifically found at 3220 Avalon Boulevard in Milton, this course has also hosted some major golf events, and the links-style design is reminiscent of the kind of courses that are so prevalent in Scotland. There are certainly plenty of pot bunkers to avoid. Large portions of the course are fairly open, though some holes have trees that can cause some havoc if you hit into them. It's a great challenge all around, and once again, the rates are quite friendly. Also worth mentioning is the fact that while Pensacola golf resorts are essentially nonexistent, you can find lodging at some area golf clubs, such as The Moors. There are quite a few Pensacola golf courses that have hosted significant tournaments, and one is the Perdido Bay Golf Club. Formerly home to the PGA's Pensacola Open, this course at 1 Doug Ford Drive might just offer the biggest challenge in the area. The greens fees run a little higher, though they are still more than reasonable, and there are a variety of facilities to take advantage of. Among these facilities are a bar and grille and a pro shop. Tasteful and spacious cottages serve as the accommodations at the Perdido Bay Golf Club, and special stay and play packages are available.

If you still have time and money left over after playing these Pensacola golf courses, you might hit some of the others that can be found in the area. The Lost Key Golf Course on Perdido Key is known for being both fun and challenging, and you don't have to break the bank to play the delightful Osceola Municipal Golf Course at 300 Tonawanda Drive. There's also the Tiger Point Golf Course in Gulf Breeze. It is highly acclaimed and has no fewer than 36 amazing holes for golfers to take on.
