Port Everglades FL is one of the largest cruise terminals
in the world. Located in Fort
Lauderdale Florida, the pier is adjacent to the Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. If you're
flying into the airport to embark upon a Florida cruise,
you're probably concerned about Port
Everglades transportation. The easiest and most inexpensive
way to get to the cruise terminal from the airport
is by taking an airport shuttle to Port Everglades.
Many of the larger cruise lines offer a complimentary
airport shuttle to Port Everglades. The shuttle usually
departs every 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the company
offering the service as well as the time of day. Once
your plane arrives at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood
International Airport, simply follow the signs for ground
transportation, which is located near the baggage
claim. You can also inquire with one of the uniformed
gate agents or airport representatives. If your cruise
ship line does not offer a complimentary airport shuttle
to Port Everglades, you can take a privately owned shuttle
to Port Everglades for a modest cost. Even if your Port
Everglades shuttle is complimentary, it's customary to
leave the driver a tip of a couple of dollars for handling
baggage.
Cruise ships depart Port Everglades at several different terminals. Be sure to check your cruise itinerary to see which terminal your cruise is departing from. Once you get aboard your Port Everglades shuttle, check with the driver to make sure the shuttle to Port Everglades is stopping at your terminal. Since Port Everglades is such a big pier, it's a good idea to know which terminal you are departing from before making the trip.
If you booked your cruise as part of a package that
includes Port Everglades
lodging, your itinerary will probably include complimentary
Port Everglades transportation. Check with your individual
cruise line regarding Port Everglades shuttle services.
If you're staying anywhere in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and you don't have access to a Port Everglades shuttle, you could always take a public bus or a taxi to the cruise ship terminal. Broward County busses stop at the Northport section of Port Everglades several times each day.
Port Everglades pier and the airport are located less than two miles apart from one another, making it possible to fly and cruise all in the same day. No matter what time of day you depart on your cruise, a shuttle to Port Everglades cruise terminal will be available.
