Satellite Beach Florida

Satellite Beach is a coastal Florida city that can be found on a barrier island near the city of Melbourne and the world-famous Kennedy Space Center. Orlando is only about an hour’s drive to the west, so visitors to the area have all kinds of options for things to do. Spending time at the beach is an obvious way to stay busy in Satellite Beach Florida. The sand along the Atlantic shoreline of the city is almost entirely lined with vegetated sand dunes. Loggerhead and green sea turtles nest on the beach every year, and North Atlantic right whales are known calve in the offshore waters. Other inviting beach destinations, such as Vero Beach to the south and the pristine Canaveral National Seashore to the north, provide even more options for beach enthusiasts who are visiting the Satellite Beach area.

The largest beachside community in the southern part of Brevard County, Satellite Beach features shopping centers, parks and recreation facilities to go with its extensive beaches. Visitors can also look to enjoy an escape to Samsons Island or head back onto the mainland for a round at the 18-hole Duran Golf Club. Samsons Island is just a 20-minute boat ride from Satellite Beach and has picnic areas, nature trails and fishing spots. Camping is available. The Duran Golf Club is in nearby Viera and was recognized as one of Florida’s best new public courses after it opened in 2005.
